There is no reason to yell a manouver.  All this is for is focusing the 
technique when one is beggining to learn it.  This works, but gradually 
people do not need this anymore when they learn to control their 
abilities better.  This is the reason for the Kiah yell in Karate, and 
why people who have advanced with the techniques no longer need to yell it.

I once heard that the tradition comes from the stories of the legendary 
heroes (in China, etc.). The texts were actually used as martial arts 
training texts, so the names of the moves had to be announced by the 
characters. Take it with a grain of salt - I can't even remember who I 
heard this from, although if it was my father, he did study Chinese 
classical literature.
