halfway through reading it, someone overwrote the superblock on my hard
drive, thus requiring formatting it. I am beginning to hate Linux. 3
installs in 3 days. I'll never get the damn thing up at this rate.

What? I've run Yggdrasil PnP Linux, and all sorts of disk errors have been
imposed on me (mainly, I repartitioned to try a dos/win/linux combo) and I
have yet to lose any data at all. Nothing destroyed the allocation tables
(at least nothing that linux couldn't recover from) and I even formatted
the new partitions, went pack to the old 'single' partition and linux said
'wow, blocks damaged, fix fix fix.. done' and every thing was happy.
