are away till Nov 3. So I may get some work done...heh
And in other good news from the Bentley House Hold: My dad who has been
on the 737 in Chicago got a slot on the 767 based in New York. Yays!
Anyway. This part takes immediatly after the prologue.
The Beginning
by. R. Bentley
"I have detected an energy surge."
The voice drifted across the room. The only light in the room was
emitted from window that sat in the front of the room. The window was
curved and encased at least three quarters of the room. Four stations
sat in the middle of the room, two facing foward, two face back, all in
compass directions. High backed cushioned chairs were pulled in close
to the consoles which were off-line. A circle of monitors and levers
hung from the ceiling around the stations. Parts of the floor had
monitors built in, mostly for maping and compass readings. A set of
doors waited at the far end of the room, a rectangle for a window
looked in both directions. The space beyond the window was black. The
cowls were still locked up tight. A few inches from the window a
three-d image of the outside sat quietly, waiting to be noticed. It
threw shadows and light over all the moody things on this bridg
e, after all it was the most important thing here, why is no one
watching me?
"I have detected an energy surge coming from our destination. Type
of energy is class 1 matrix, there also appears to be life signs
emiting from the matrix."
The darkness stared back at the image.
"It would appear that our friend has just become the second person
to send back a Huntsman."
The darkness quietly meditated. Humming to herself.
"Are you even listening to me, Captain?"
The darkness shifted, letting her arms rest, her head go limp and
her mind go blank. "I am listening to you, Usino, as always."
"This makes the second one we've seen on our sensors being
sentenced. I think you should be comended. No one has ever tapped into
the gates like this."
The darkness let a smile run across her face. "The knowledge was
obtained easily. You just have to listen, then understand, then
translate and finally build. It was something I've known for a long
time. And your constant question of where I get this knowledge is none
of your concern, yet."
"I neither asked, nor wanted to know. I've learned a great deal
about you and your race."
The darkness held her tongue and thought this through carefully,
her eyes opened. Her eyes shined in the darkness, they centered on the
image on the main window. This computer inteligence was growing faster
then she had predicted, even though she had created it, it was starting
to take on her traits and abilities. Like listenings and thinking too
much. "Don't pat yourself on the back yet." She finally replied. How
much do you know, she thought.
"I will once everything is complete Captain."
The darkness lets out a long sigh, yes everything. The awakening,
the beginning and the resurrection. Everything was happening as it was
fortold. She had been the one that had folded Kepler and his group to
the incident. She had stepped inside and watched as Bentley fired on
the Huntsman and in turn watched it being sentenced and fold back to
the home world. Just as the weapon was supposed to do. Just as she had
predicted to her superiors, many upon many years ago.
She closed her eyes and let her other senses stretch out. Her
mind's eye opened, a picture of the bridge formed in her mind, a tad on
the fuzzy side. She concentrated a little more and the image focused.
She smiled, she hadn't practiced this in years. The image turned,
walked through the doors and down the plank of the ship into the night
air. She took a deep breath, the aroma of her home world greated her
nose. She looked up at the stars and watched them glimmer in the night.
"It is nearly time," she breathed. Her mind's sight turned, towards
the rolling hills to the south. The butting edges of the sky scrapers
of the city bearly peaked over the trees that surrounded it. Her sight
moved forward, only a few klicks and then stopped. Something was
calling to her, something that rang her from her sleep at night. A
voice from the past, so quiet, so frail, full of power and energy. The
voice was calling her by name......by _name_. Her body shivered for a
moment. Something edge up from the darkness of herself, something that
made her very essance shimmer like ripples across a pond. Something
started to move across her.
Outside, down hill, through the trees, down another hill. Across
the lake, the tall metalic sky scrapers stretched up into the sky.
Through the streets a voice sung, a quiet, beautifull voice full of
energy and power sang to the night. Deep under the city, under the
bunkers, under the hidden labratories, machines worked. Large and small
machines toiled and welded metal plating to a frame. A very large
frame. The machines worked on the main floor. Up above them, in an
enclosed area a holographic entity worked on the blue prints. The
entity was unisex, its eyes and fingers worked in unision. The frame of
the star ship had been on the floor a few months. The machines had to
be recallibrated to fit the new metal onto hands of the mecha that
welded the parts on in just as planned. While the AI worked on the blue
print, another monitor behind it glowed. It showed a black/red w
orld with many moons around it. Every so often a scanner would scan it
way over the planet and report the findings to back to the planet. A
computer, somewhere in the planet watched and waited. Eyes watched too,
and listened for that one brief moment when the silence of the darkness
would errupt in a howl of terror.
She can see it. She can see it all. Her hands opened wide, her mind
reeled from so much information. Too fast, too fast she thought. Slow
down, I can't- It started to blurr, she concentrated more. What is it
you want me to do? I can't- The more she concentrated the more fuzzy it
began. The vision quickened up, it sped through events, places, people.
The sound of thunder goes through her. Her body jerks up as the vision
slams into something, something in the dark, through the mist. She
shaked her head. Eyes blinked rapidly as the voice of the thunder spoke
and the lighting it sight. I don't, she moaned, eyes squeezed shut. The
voice reached out and touched her own voice, the sight opened, the
light, the sound, the screams. The vision cleared for one moment! And
then!
"I can't understand!" She screamed. Her eyes opened. The vision
rushed back from the city, up the hill and back up the plank into the
ship. Her body was covered in sweat, her lung gulped the air. Her hair
sticked to her scalp, she ran her hand through her thick head of hair.
She felt the horns that protuded from behind her ears. Two sets on her
head, one set above her ears and to the back of her head. The other set
on the bottom and to the back. The top set pointed down while the
bottom pointed up, both sets touched each other. Another pair of horns
were on her neck, these were straight horizontal and pointed back. The
set on her head were the ones she were worried about. They were both
hot to the touch. She sighed and tried to slow her breathing. She
opened her eyes and stood. She took a few steps forward to the upper
right console. She leaned on the console and looked up at the main
screen, her eyes dark. "What's our ETD?"
"One week, three days." The AI replied. It waited for a
explaination for what had happened to her. He as a rule watched her
when she was on deck. She had created him before she had downloaded him
into the ship's memory core. At the point he had been able to grow, he
learned, he watched and listened. And he built. He knew many things
about her, although he did not know what she looked like before she had
dumped him into the core. He had been able to access some of the
planet's files. The planet's AI had recognized him, for some strange
reason, more like welcome him home. It allowed him to access the many
data files and such. He had learned much, very much. The planet's AI
knew about her, only from it's own recon attempts to the hill top. The
species on this planet were quiet interestin indeed. They seemed to
watch the ship all the time, as if waiting for her to come out.
But why did they not venture in? He guaged at her energy levels during
that one minute of conversation between her and someone else. Her
energy readings peaked off the scale. And something within the planet
peaked too, the singing. Something he found most amusing and most
interesting at the same time. He had a week and three days to continue
to monitor and record. He watched her concentrate, getting herself out
of her hieghtened state of awareness. "Your training for this evening
has concluded Captain. Next Session is in sixty hours." He hesitated.
"Are you all right?"
Captain nodded. She picked up her jumpsuit and headed towards the
door. "I'm fine I just need some air." She was halfway out the door
when she turned and looked over her shoulder. "Are they out tonight
Usino?"
He waited for a moment. He checked again, he already knew the
answer. "No Captain, unusually quiet night. If you are going out, you
may want your helmet."
She turned and nodded. A slight smile formed on her face, covered
in darkness. Inwardly she sighed. Thank you, she thought. "Good night
Usino and thank you."
"Always," he replied and watched her exit the bridge. He waited for
the doors to close, the bridge lights lighted up to one half and the
sensors warmed up. He sent the signal and waited for a reply. He
waited. And waited. Nothing? He sent the signal again and waited. Still
nothing. He activated the external motion tracker, heat and mics. He
looked and listened. His remark about a unusually quiet night seemed to
be a the mark. Even the little noise makers in the grass were quiet
tonight.
His motion tracker beeped once. The external cameras instantly
brought up that location. It was in the weeds, something moving around.
The sound of soft breathing registered on the interal speaker. The
cameras zoomed back and caught the object. A feline. A very small
bright white baby feline. The feline bounced around in the grass and
bounced over to the lone tree on the hill top. It hesitated, it slowed
down and looked straight into the lense. It's eyes looked straight into
the lense, a small audible growl echoed on the toom like bridge. The
feline continued it trek over to the tree and settled against a darker
object. The object scratched the feline behind the ears and it purred.
The object picked up the feline and held it close. Uniso brought the
camera back to normal and eyed the picture.
Captain cuddled with the small baby feline under the tree, facing
north east. Away from the city, watching the sea of water instead. She
fell asleep watching the stars and sea, dreams floated up to the
surface as she closed her eyes. The feline purred deeply and slowly
fell asleep too.
Usino made a note. A small note. He placed in the back of his
memory, for further study and shut down the bridge operating systems.
He slipped back into the core and check the main systems once more and
uploaded the security system to active and shut himself down.
Under the city the machines had already finished off the core of
the ship. Bright lights from above shine down on the frame, the mecha
armor and weapons shine. The soft rumble echos off the floor while the
giant mecha work night and day. The morning shift started on what the
night shift could not finish, the night shift mecha walked back to the
their holding jacks and powered down, the plans for tomarrow slowly
down loaded into their memory. The core of the ship had been made even
before the AI could remember. The core's hull, deck plates, ceiling,
walls were all made out of a material suited for the core. A material
found on no other world. A material for the night.
Something pulsed behind the material. It looked out at the
machines while they worked, it could see what was happening, it knew it
was due to happen soon. It settled back into it's bed and slowly fell
asleep. It's mind is in a deep sleep when huge metal fingers slowly
placed the core into the middle of this giant star ship. It's mind
dreamed when the decks, pressure doors and walls are placed neatly into
place. It's mind is hooked up to an on board computer, it monitored
it's life signs as it slept. It can hear the singing, it's monitors
showed the power levels as they peaked and fluxed. The singing was
something it was not concered with, it's main concern was the building
of the star ship for the sacred warriors return. It ignored the call
from it's brother AI outside, it did not have time to converse. It's
brother would understand. For right now it had a mission. It's mission
conisisited of one thing:
Delay the awakening of the Tendor Home World
No matter the cost.

"Testing, one two three, testing one two three."
The hand held tape recorder was stopped and rewound. The six word
sentence sped into reverse, the words blurred into a high speed scream
of sorts and halted. The play button was pressed and the volume turned
up. The circular speaker on that was built into half of the recorder
sparked to life. The words came out once more, the volume was lowered.
The owner breathed in the warn night air, he looked up at the stars
while his own words drifted out into the night. He looked down at the
recorder and found a place underneath one of the elm trees that lived
in his front yard. The light at the end of the driveway shined brightly
at the end of the cul de sac. The other three houses that lived at the
bottom of the circle blazed with life and light while Bentley leaned
against the tree and pressed the record button. The little red button
burst to life and the tiny wheels started to move.
"Date of entry: August 8th, nineteen, nighty-one. Location: Warwick
Rhode Island, Bentley Residence. About eight fifty or so pm Eastern
Standard Time. Recorder is R. Bentley, Codenamed: Tripwire. This is a
follow up to my last entry. Date a week ago. August 1st. Things have
gotten back to normal here. There has not been a singal sign of a
retalliation from last week's Huntsman Sentencing. If Burke were here
and stayed true to form, we would have felt it by now. Please see the
beginning of these recordings to cross referance retalliation with
mis-fold attempt slash booby trap by Burke for formentioned Phantom
Riders. Date: August 1st nineteen-ninety." He stopped and rewound it
and listened to it. He nodded and pressed record once more.
"It was and still my belief that Burke is still here, hiding
somewhere. It's a gut feeling, he is watching somewhere, not doing a
thing either. That's what's scaring me. What's scaring me more is the
fact that we may be called on sooner then I expected. I didn't expect
this to come this soon, we need more time to prepare. The set up with
the Huntsman a week ago was a fluke. It could've taken us all out with
nothing to spare. It didn't though, it came straight to me and was
sentenced. It doesn't make sense."
(yep that's as far as I got. Sowwies about that. Anyway, questions,
flames, comments, they are all welcome!)

Good Guys:
Bentley and Rider (ie kids from the Mr. Taco attack)
Kepler and his team.
Tanya and Kara
Captain and Usino (?)
Bad Guys:
Burke (evil meanie with plans to take over the universe)
His bimbos ie the five Tendor Huntsman half breeds who helped him
are locked up at the moment. Name and location to soon follow. 5 women
basically.
Tendor Huntsman is about a 7ft walking silohet (sp..dohs). Imagine
the invulnerablity of the Terminator as well as it's tactical
knowledge. Quickness of the Alien, huntining abilities of the Predator.
The claws and weapons of the thing from Split Second. It can procreate,
no eggs sowwies. ;). Male and Female, as Kepler said there are
different versions. Some more worse then others. Their homeworld is
what is causing all the trouble. Once it awakens, the Tendors wake up
and poof the universe be theirs. That's where the Riders come in.
Planets:
Earth (seen it)
Seco (soon to follow)
