For the record, the use of Japanese doesn't actually bother me. What I
proposed was a stylistic change --replacing one word for another I believe
more effective, as it were-- and since it's part of Lurker's writing style
I
can understand the effect he's going for with this scene.

However, let's nip this one in the bud (or take it to private mail) before
we end up with an on-list debate on the use of Japanese in fanfics, OK? ;)

Agreed. Beating a dead horse is definitely against FFML regs, and the whole
"Japanese in fanfiction" thing is one of the oldest, most deceased horses
there is.

And, frankly, discussing it is rather pointless, as I'm simply ignoring all
arguments against the usage of Japanese, as it's part of my writing style,
has been for ten years, and I'm not changing it now if I haven't changed it
in the last decade. :P
