Another completely pointless and unfunny spamfic.
OK, let me add the references for all who wander lost in such a short text.
First just about any story titled "The [person's last name] Code" written
this year is most likely a reference to The Da Vinci Code.
As Da Vinci himself is referred to in both that book/movie and Gakuen
Alice he serves as a useful point of reference between the two.
But my title goes further than that and suggests that Hotaru is like Da
Vinci. Well she does have the inventing part down pat and she is good at
math and science. The shapes she builds her robots in tell us that she
has a powerful artistic talent so it's not that much of a stretch to
suggest that she can paint as well.
But why mention history when we already know that she isn't the top
history student in even her own home-room class?
The plot of The Da Vinci Code is that the bloodline of Christ continues to
the modern day and the plot of Gakuen Alice is that alices are passed down
genetically and they claim that many inventive persons in history,
including Da Vinci were alices.
So Hotaru has used her knowledge of history to make the connection between
the modern alices and Christ himself.
That explains Hotaru's part in the story, but what is Mikan doing there?
Well she's a girl with a subtle smile posing for a portrait by "Da Vinci".
This means that she must be a stand in for Mona Lisa. As Lisa means
"consecrated to God", this implies that Mikan is also part of the holy
bloodline as are all of the other alices.
But where is the Code referred to in the title? Well, it's in the title
itself.
Reversing Imai and splitting it into words we get: "I am I", which echos
several passages from the Bible, including this one:
John 8:18 "I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent
me beareth witness of me."
So our little firefly isn't just Da Vinci, she's also Christ.
