It could possibly be through Hermione's father's side (a grandmother or

That's not necessary. Apparently the 1996 Fox TV movie with Paul
McGann is canon -- McGann is counted among the Doctors to make
Eccleston 9th and his successor 10th -- and in that movie it was
revealed that the Doctor is half Earth-human.

Even if it's not necessary, though, it would be interesting, and
I certainly would like to see that tie in somehow.

If the Doctor is the one who came up with the Time Lord regenerations,
he'd easily be able to make it for himself and his desecendants.
Regeneration was never credited to Omega or Rassilon. There was an
unnamed 3rd member of the beings who built Gallifrey that usually gets
the credit/blame for regeneration

Susan Foreman is a story in a magazine has been said that not only is
she the Doctor's granddaughter, she's a direct descendant of Rassilon.
The Master wanted to use her to take over Gallifrey(royalty and all that).

It is possible that Susan could get a TARDIS or make one.

As to the Doctor's TARDIS, it doesn't always hunt for trouble. When the
Doctor is visiting someone or taking them 'home', it just goes.
