written.  Many events conspire these days to keep me from writing, but 
here we finally are.  Just a couple notes before we get to the good stuff.
    I've had many complaints about the slow pace of my writing lately.  
I can certainly sympathise with that, considering how slowly things have 
been going.  So I'd like to thank all the people who've sent 
encouragement or just said how much they're looking forward to the next 
chapter.  Hopefully, you'll find this worth the wait.

    My faithful pre-reader, Michael Chase, seems to have pulled up 
stakes.  At the very least, my e-mails to him have bounced back as user 
unknown.  Which means that these chapters do not have the benefit of his 
sharp eye, so there may be more little mistakes than usual.  I'm 
confident the sharp-eyed readers here will catch those, though.
