Another point you sometimes see is that most of the bad guys 
the senshi fight absord the life-force from people. That 
renders many of Ranma's attacks useless.
No ki blasts for certain.

I've read a fic where someone addresseses this.  The author compares life
energy to water, compares a ki blast to an icicle thrown very fast.
