except for actual fanfics (or portions thereof) written in response to
the challenge, or comments on such fics when and if they are posted.

If this gives you an idea, by all means write it, and post the result if
you think it's good enough. But we don't need to hear what you are
thinking of writing, and we especially don't need to hear what you are
thinking of *not* writing.
