Geez DB, some tact please? If you can't say anything nice, don't say
anything at all. I expect this kind of post from Lurker, not an admin.

And your post adds infinite realms of wisdom to the discussion at hand, ya?
Insulting DB, taking a potshot at me--oh, sorry, I missed the part where you
had anything to add about the story itself. Oh, wait...no I didn't. Because
it wasn't there. Whereas DB, at least, had something relevant to say.
Negative, yes, but...

Well, did you even READ the story in question? There wasn't anything
positive TO say about it.

C&C stands for Comments and *CRITICISM*. Criticism is by definition the
pointing out of flaws, faults, and defects in something. At least three
people on this list have taken the time out to point out the flaws, faults,
and defects in the fic in question.

Try ponying up at least that minimal amount of participatory effort before
you waste the list's time pointing out the flaws, faults, and defects in its
membership.

Just to bring this back to the point at hand, I'll add a couple things I
forgot to mention in my original C&C:

- I will give the author credit for one thing: this is the first time I've
ever seen Ranma and Akane cast as Uranus and Neptune. I don't AGREE with
this choice, but it's at least the first time I've actually SEEN it.

- I get so sick and tired of stories where Pluto is always going around
manipulating and scheming and generally trying to force the flow of time
onto a specific course. There is never ANY evidence ANYWHERE that she does
anything of the kind. Her exclusive duty is to guard the Gates of Time. And
she DOES her duty. She shows up from time to time when she knows she'll be
needed, or when she feels events could disrupt the course of time if the
Senshi are not forewarned, but for the most part, she keeps her butt planted
firmly in front of the Gates making sure nothing tries to access them that
shouldn't.

- I cannot stress this enough:

If you have not read Ranma 1/2, nor seen at least ten episodes of the anime,
YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS WRITING A RANMA FANFIC. This goes for pretty much
everything else out there: if your entire knowledge of the source material
is through other peoples' fanfics, you should not be writing fanfiction for
it yourself. This is something I've mentioned before, and I'm not the only
one who's commented on it in the past, but it bears repeating. There's
enough bad fanfiction out there by people who HAVE seen the freaking series.
We don't need a glut more from people with no clue whatsoever.

It's fairly easy to tell if a writer just plain hasn't seen the show or read
the manga. The warning signs usually...well...actually, the fanfic in
question here pretty much serves as a perfect guide by which to measure
canon consistency in a fanfic. If your story has any three cliches found in
"To Be A Tomboy", chances are you (a) have never seen or read the series, or
(b) have a bad fanfic idea in the first place and need to rope it in.

There, that at least keeps this from being entirely irrelevant.
