It happens even if you don't do that. Personally, if anyone said "OMG
THIS ROCKS" to me, I don't think I'd have taken him as a prereader in
the first place; I prefer my prereaders to be fluent in English. :)

It's understandable that some people will lose interest in what you are
writing, particularly if there's a long wait between installments.
What's not understandable -- to me, anyway -- is why they can't seem to
drop a quick note to that effect. Other than serious medical problems
(which did happen with one of my prereaders), I don't really see any
good excuse for not replying at all.
