Heya,
And for those of you that don't import anything... a regular music CD album
cost
about 3000 yen each... unless they are used and really old... they you
might find
then around 1000 yen each.
For domestic music. Imports are cheaper than domestic music in Japan. The
latest Pizzacato Five release might cost 3000 yen, but that new album from
Metallica'll only set you back 1400 yen or so.
I'm surprised people are still arguing about this. People carry around
ungodly amounts of cash in their wallet over there. I usually had 1 or 2
10,000 yen bills on me, and that certainly wasn't unusual. My first
paycheck they paid me entirely in cash... over $3000 CDN worth in a small
brown enveloppe. Near the end of my stay in Japan I was doing some
traveling and ran out of money and had to cut the trip short... one of the
Japanese men I used to work with--he was a teacher/monk--insisted I finish
my trip, pulled out his wallet, and peeled off 100 000 yen in cash and
handed it over. Sweet. So having a couple hundred on hand isn't unusual.
Now, whether Akane would actually _have_ that kind of money is a different
question entirely.
