Actually, Dave, Akane suffers from a logical disconnect. Her father
doesn't teach any more, and she herself (apparently) defeats all
comers. She refuses to believe that her wins over Kuno are a result
of his pulling his punches (she can't stand the implied insult, so
refuses to admit the possibility). That makes her the best in Nerima,
at least in her own mind.

  Except, she never expresses this opinion in the manga, (although it's
common in fanfiction) nor does she seem particularly astonished or upset
when onna-Ranma proves to be clearly her superior. As for Kuno - she
tells Ranma that Kuno get serious when he fights a guy, so she's aware
that he's holding back against her - she's just finds it insulting.

  "DADDY!  I CAN'T MARRY THIS-- THIS PERVERT!"

But here's the big one.  Akane refers to Ranma as a pervert because
she gets the idea in her head that he's a naked intruder in her house.
If she never sees him naked in the bath then she isn't going to call
him a pervert.  She'll call him, I don't know, a freak, a mutant,
a hermaphrodite, or something.  Ranma's right, her response is crazy
because it doesn't match the changed circumstances.  It's like she's
got a script from the main timeline and is following it while everyone
else has the updates.

Dave, I have to agree with Granberry here. Akane, even in the manga,
seems to have this obsession that "Boy = pervert". Or, to be a little
more to the point, any boy with what WE would consider a normal healthy
interest in the opposite sex = pervert. The only males she seems to be
able to deal with are people like her father, and Dr. Tofu. And the
occasional boy who is either totally intimidated by her (Ryouga), or
who does NOT have what would be considered a healthy sexual interest.
Akane prefers "Guilty until proven innocent", it seems.

Well - I could certainly excuse her for thinking Kuno and the other boys
she fights are perverts - my definition of "normal healthy interest" doesn't
include trying to beat up the object of my affection. The only other boys I can
recall her treating that way are Ranma and Mikado Sanzenin, both special cases.
She seems to get along well enough with everyone else, as far as I can recall
at the moment.
