As usual, another excellent installment.

Belldandy stepped into the interior of the temple and
looked around,
<clip>
"There you two are," said Katsuhito jovially,
stepping into the room and setting the rest of his
luggage down. Rei Hino came in a moment behind
him, looking around curiously, and Sakura Sakuranbo
brought up the rear. He looked around at the
temple's interior, before bringing

The above passages gave me a bit of... well, maybe
cognitive dissonance. It's threatening my willing
suspension of disbelief.

Canonical Belldandy lives in a Buddhist temple, and so
you're using the word "temple" (otera) here rather
than the word "shrine" (jinja). But then you
bring in four characters associated with Shinto
shrines, and characterize them as fully at home in a
building I can only take to be a Buddhist temple.

Most of what I've read about contemporary Japan
suggests that Shinto and Buddhist priests treat each
other, and each others' establishments, much like
Catholic and mainstream Protestant clerics might treat
each other in the US: respectful of a colleague and
competitor, perhaps curious, but hardly at home.

The simplest way to fix this, for me, would be to
just change the wording, from "temple" to "shrine".
Alternatively or additionally, you might expand on
the relationship between the two in your world, which
is certainly different from in ours, but could be
so in various different ways.
