I didn't write this during the hour challenge. I spent that time working
on GTP chapter 18. But then I had this idea, so I spent about 40 minutes
writing it up. Here it comes, unpreread and unedited, as it poured out
of my head. Now I'm going to go make a livejournal entry and get ready
for bed.

Navi Helps Out
An Ocarina of Time spamfic by Nidoking

"Are you all ready, Link?" asked Navi the fairy as Link approached
the giant door, pulling the Boss Key out of his pouch. "After all, this
is Ganondorf's room."
"Ready as I'll ever be," he said. "I think I've got everything
ready. Fully stocked on hearts and magic, got the defense bonus from the
Great Fairy of Courage, stowed my sword back in Kakariko Village...."
"WHAT? You left the Master Sword behind?"
"I left Biggoron's Sword there too," replied Link. "I didn't want
anything to happen to them."
"What are you thinking?" shouted Navi. "How do you expect to fight
Ganondorf without a sword?"
"Well, I've still got this," he said, pulling the toothpick-sized
Kokiri Sword out of his pack. "But it probably won't do me much good."
"Then what are you going to do?"
"Easy," replied Link. "I have the Light Arrows to stun him, and then
I can hit him with the Megaton Hammer."
"But the old man said you'd have to use your sword to reflect
Ganondorf's magic!" Navi reminded him. "Your Mirror Shield won't work!"
"I've got something better for that," said Link. "I'll just use an
empty bottle to reflect the magic."
"An empty bottle?" repeated Navi. "You have an empty bottle?"
"Well, I couldn't use it to reflect magic if I didn't have one."
Navi crossed her arms indignantly. "You know, you COULD fill that
bottle with something useful, like a Blue Potion. You can't have too
many of those."
"If I did that, I wouldn't have any way to reflect his magic, would
I?" Link shook his head as he fitted the Boss Key into the lock.
    "Um, hello? The sword?"
"Don't have it, remember?" The door slid up, and Link boldly stepped
through, brandishing his empty bottle. "Get ready, Ganondorf! Prepare
to -" He stared blankly into the room.
"It's another staircase," reported Navi. "Ganondorf's in the room at
the top."
    Link sighed. "I know."
*************************************************
An hour later, Link collapsed in the very same room, whose ceiling
had collapsed under the fury of the attack Ganondorf had unleashed in
the room above, plunging Link repeatedly into the darkness below. "Man,
I never thought an empty bottle would make such a lousy weapon!"
"Yeah, who would have thought it?" asked Navi, who was forced to
wait in the lower room every time Link climbed up into the high magical
field above. "Bet you're wishing for your sword now, huh?"
"I've used up all of my potions, and I'm still running out of
hearts! And I just know there are another couple of forms left to fight
after this one." He groaned. "What am I going to do?"
"Why don't you give him the empty bottle as a peace offering?"
scoffed Navi.
Link glanced at the many broken jars in the room that he'd harvested
for power-ups. "No, I have a better idea."
"What are you going to do?" asked Navi, hovering down for a closer
look.
"What I should have done a long time ago," he replied, screwing the
lid tightly on the bottle. "See? This bottle came in handy after all. As
long as I have a fairy in a bottle, I can't die!"
Navi's protest of "Air holes, you moron!" was rendered inaudible by
the soundproof jar.
