2. Regarding Nodoka's fighting skill: as far as I can tell,
canon does not give us any indication of her skill in the
martial arts.

What... you mean drawing a sword and /accidentally letting go/, letting it fly though the air to impail any poor sod who got in it's way /ISN'T/ an indication?!

If it were'nt for Ranma's nimbleness, I'm sure she'd've ended up on manslaughter charges, or somesuch.

Infacts the outright says that she's 'not very good with swords'.

Of course, I'm not saying this can't be otherwise in an altaverse...

3. Finally, it does not seem logical for Nodoka to insist that
Ranma spend one year as a girl. If what she wants is to teach
her son to be less of a sexist, certainly a week or even a month
of being a girl should be sufficient, but certainly not a
whole year. If Nodoka has a more adequate and believable
reason, it has not been made clear in your story.

Something that occured to me was simply that this plot device is hideously over used. And yet it would be simple to acheive the same effect, whilst keeping the original characters closing to canon:

Nodoka, expecting her son to return home as the epitomy of manlyness, finds her child now turns into a girl, if only part of the time. She doesn't have any particular idea of how this might affect him mentally or otherwise, but she's bound to be pretty upset about it.

But, not really wanting to loose her child, she angrily tells Ranma that he must remain as a girl, and that her son is dead, or something... dang, I can't remember how this was supposed to go, now.

Anyway, the point is that, whilst /extremely/ upset, Nodoka makes Ranma promise to be a girl for X amount of time, for various irrational reasons. When Nodoka calms down, she tries to make amends, and basically regains her sanity... but Ranma, being the honest and honerable type (when it counts... like for making plot devices work =) refuses to go back on his word, so endeavours to spend the rest of the year as a girl, acting overly girly (and hating it).

Nodoka then decides to coach Ranma in effemininininty, if only to stop him from making a fool of himself.

Anyhow.

If I weren't in the middle of two other fics, or lacking an overall plot, I'd probably implement this idea myself (once I figure out exactly how I originaly worded it, which made it so much more IC)


Still, I'd like to see this fic continued, if only for the lack of Ranma MKR crossovers (I can only think of two - one is lame, and abandonded, the other is the Uberfantastic 'A Duet of Pigtails')

Obviously, it's probably just going to be a 'MKR with ranma as the lead' fic, but it will be interesting to see if it's carried off thoughtfully, rather than just having him be a munchkin, and solving the whole pillar mess without any heartache, all in time for tea.

Though I'd still like to see Akane cast as the fourth, Earth Knight.
My Akane as a Magic Knight fic never really got off the ground, for lack of resources (and a plot =).
