Sailor Lycidas
  A spampoem by HKMiller (with apologies to Milton)
    9 October 2002

   Alas! what boots it with incessant care
   To write the homely, slighted shoujo stuff,
   And strictly meditate on Sailor Moon?
   Were it not better done, as others do,
   To sport with Ranma til we've had enough,
   Or with the tangles of Love Hina's pair?

   Girl Power is the spur that clear spirit doth raise
   (That last infirmity of shoujo mind)
   To scorn delights and write laborious days;
   But the public praise when we hope to find,
   And think to burst out into sudden blaze,
   Comes the blind Critic with th'abhorred shears,
   And slits our thin-spun pride.

					"But readst thou Raye's?"
   Aishuu replied, and smote our list'ning ears;
   "Shoujo is no plant that grows on FFML soil,
   Nor in the masculine foil
   Set off to th'world, nor in broad fandom lies
   But lives and breathes by those pure feelings
   And perfect guidance of th'all-knowing Male;
   As he pronounces "Now!" on each need,
   Then and only then doth the heroine do the deed."

	Bravo, good sir. Meta-fiction poetry. Brilliant.

	I have little to say other than I see a potential formatting error (but
that may have been intentional, or just my e-mail client messing with
me) but I think that capsulated the entire thing nicely.
