Hi again!

I need some recommendations on 'required reading' for the fic I finally
decided I'd write. The problem right no is putting the premise into
words...

The basic idea is that Ranma's life starts one year earlier than the
canon. The paths he travels remain basically the same, with a few minor
alterations, and Ranma ends up at Jusenkyo at age 16. After this, the
story starts diverging for real. After Nyechiezu (how _is_ that spelled,
anyhow), which has a rather different outcome, Ranma and Genma head back
to Japan. At Ranma's insistance, they pay a visit to an old friend,
Masaki Katsuhito and grandson. (Hey, the old man managed to break him
out of the Neko-ken, maybe he knows something about the Curse). Of
course, the Masaki have 'guests', rather a lot of them, and Ranma makes
friends with Ryoko...

Most of that is backstory, though, and the story starts with Ranma and
Genma arriving at the Dojo, and Ranma using some of the new tricks he's
learned to make sure _he_ (or she, as the case may be) does the talking.
(I'm fiddling with that scene right now, trying to get it just right...)

The immediate consequences of the age thing is that Ranma ends up in the
same class as Kuno. One of the 'crossover consequences' is Ranma
behaving a _little_ smarter - to the point of not sleeping in class
(Pavlovian conditioning, courtesy of Washuu...) The eventual conclusion
(nasty word) is supposed to be a Ranma/Anovwv (name ROT-13:ed) matchup.

So. What am I missing? All the usual suspects will be turning up, Ranma
will have at least a little trouble with the 'normal' wrecking crew
(though not as much as canon), and the occasional surprise visit from
the Tenchi cast should liven things up a bit. Pointers to similar
fanfics (anything where Ranma's age has been changed), possible
encounter divergences (Ukyo and Shampoo especially) etc. would be most
welcome...

(And yes, if there's interest, I'll probably do a story on the year at
the Masaki shrine. Object lessons on the 'weakness' of women, anyone?
