Ranma Shows Up
Short
Prologue
An Elf-Quest Ranma 1/2 Crossover
By Cute Kitsune Kaydee
It was a normal day in the forest. Skywise had gotten up , did whatever he
does to get ready for the day , and went outside. He had went for a walk
in
an old part of the forest. He came across an old part of the High One's
magic. This magic just seemed to be sitting there doing nothing. He knew
better than to go near it. Terrible things could happen from the old
leftover magic. Just look at Madcoil for an example.
This reads like a summary.
Drop the lackluster description of whatever Skywise does to
start his day. For one thing, I think he just wakes up, gets dressed,
and is pretty much ready to go. The wolf riders don't seem to have
a morning ritual like the sunfolk do...
As to the rest of the paragraph - stretch it out and bring Skywise's
sense of wonder and need to explore the mysteries of the world
into play. As is, any old elf who happened to be inexplicably
literate and conversant in Japanese would do. Such as, oh say,
Cutter, Longbow, or Ember... :p
Suddenly the magic flared. He leapt back and wondered if he should get
help.
The magic grew brighter and then faded away. A hole in the sky opened and
some people dropped through. Then the hole disappeared from his sight. He
hid and then looked at the people who had fell through.
Why would he consider getting help first? Skywise would certainly
decide to inform the other elves about the unstable magic area, but
he'd want to observe it for a while first. Now if he thought of getting
help after the humans showed up, it would make more sense...
They appeared to be human and one strange bear-like creature thing. The
bear-thing help up a wooden sign.
(Where did that come from?) , thought Skywise.
The bear's sign said , "This is all your fault boy. You should not have
made
the Master mad. Then he would not have cast that spell at us."
Just how is Skywise able to read Japanese? Like David said, Skywise
and the other wolfriders are pretty much illiterate, and even those elves
who can read would only be able to read what they were literate in in the
World of Two Moons. The most likely to be literate would be Sava,
Suntop, and some of the other Sunfolk (perhaps Rayek)
A boy in a red colored shirt looked at the bear-thing and said , "My
Fault!
Why the heck is it my fault!? He's the one who was groping Kasumi! Of
course
I stopped him from doing so. Would you rather I let him continue molesting
her?"
Skywise is unlikely to be able to understand Japanese either, barring
cosmic coincidence. Not that it isn't possible. If it is though, it meens
that
for the perposes of this story, the elven language is phonetically similar
to
Japanese. Which is to say that Ranma and company would not be able to
understand other humans.
I recommend otherwise though. Skywise and Cutter both displayed a
knack for picking up new human languages fairly quickly, so given a few days
rough communication should be possible. Providing the elves are inclined to
bother anyway. Cutter's memorandum at the point of Kings of the Broken
Wheel was that of avoiding humans altogether.
Before the bear-thing could answer another man with some hair above his
upper lip looked at them both and said , "Are you telling everyone that he
should have let him Saotome?"
Yeah, this sounds like Soun! :)
The bear-thing or Saotome thought about that for a few seconds and then he
lp
up a sign that said , "Of course not Tendo. Of course not. No need to get
angry."
A purple haired girl glomped onto the boy and said , "Where are we Ranma.
This not look like Dojo."
Personally, I wouldn't arbitrarily bring in so many of the Ranma cast
at this point. At most, maybe Ranma, Genma, and up to all of the
Tendo family. Realisticly, Ranma, Genma, Soun, and perhaps either
Nabiki or Akane (This kind of thing tends to not happen to Kasumi).
Anyone else is pretty much contrived. Not that that doesn't happen in
Ranma 1/2 anyway, but the others can just as easily be brought in
later if you are going to be contrived about it anyway. It's called
pacing... :)
The boy said , "How should I know Shampoo. What do I look like , a
map-maker. And let go of me."
Correction:
RANMA: "Shampoo! Let go of--"
*WHAM* (Akane hits Ranma with a convenient blunt object)
AKANE: "Ranma! You IDIOT!"
Another boy in a yellow shirt said , "Ranma , how dare you hold onto
Shampoo
when you have a perfectly good woman like Akane."
That sounds more like something Mousse would say. At this point,
Ryoga would be saying: "Ranma! Prepare to DIE!" :)
The boy or Ranma said , "You've got to be kidding Ryoga. Me and that
Tomboy
, ugh. Besides Shampoo grabbed onto me."
The other boy or Ryoga yelled , "How dare you insult Akane like that.
Prepare to die."
Exclaimation points are your friends - don't be afraid to use them! :)
Ranma said , "Bring it on anytime pig-boy."
RANMA: "Anytime, P-Chan!"
(Pig-boy?) , thought Skywise. He decided to get help. {Cutter} , he Sent ,
{There is something very odd down here. You had better come see this for
yourself. Humans have fallen out of the sky. And they appear ready to
fight
one another.}
As before, the likelyhood of Skywise understanding any of them is
rather low...
- To Be Continued Or Not
The idea itself has potential, but there are a ton of rough spots to
work out yet.
