Washu took the opportunity to sneak away from the makeshift party after
most of the participants had nodded off. The revelations about Sasami
and Tsunami had shocked most of the extended and adopted Masaki family.
Everyone who wasn't knocked unconscious by Ryoko and Ayeka arguing was
instead passed out drunk.

Washu made it a few dozen feet before the serene form of Tsunami
shimmered into existence.

"It has been a while," the blue-haired goddess remarked.

"Sure has," Washu replied. "Is it true what you said happened?"

Tsunami nodded. "To an extent. She and I are linked, in mind and soul.
But everything changes over time. We may grow apart, and never join.
Or it may happen before she reaches adulthood. Nothing can be seen."

"You wouldn't have bonded with her if you hadn't been sure," Washu said
with a snort. "There were other ways to save her."

"None of which," Tsunami said sharply, "can be carried out in the middle
of a planetary battle, and in the time she had left."

Washu didn't reply. Instead she turned back to the
picnic-turned-camp-out. "Is it him?"

Tsunami nodded. "Yes, I knew it when Sasami first met him. The Master
Key wouldn't have reacted like that if he wasn't."

Washu nodded. "I thought I sensed something familiar about him."

Tsunami finally stopped floating and sat down on a nearby rock. "Just as
I sensed something familiar about the pirate who attacked my chosen home
seven hundred years ago. I found it odd, though, that she was under
someone else's control."

Washu shrugged as she sat down next to the blue-haired goddess. "I
couldn't help it. Kagato caught me off guard."

One of Tsunami's eyebrows rose. "Caught off guard? That doesn't sound
like you."

Washu quickly turned away. "I don't want to talk about it."

A concerned, almost motherly look came over Tsunami's face. "Your child,
the one you lost so long ago..."

A single tear worked it's way down Washu's face as she nodded. "When he
came to learn from me, I thought I still had a chance with him..." Washu
trailed off, then barked a laugh. "Ironic, isn't it? After all that I
put the two of you through, I'm the one that falls in love left and
right."

Tsumani smiled. "I seem to remember you being warned about that many a
time." Abruptly, she stood. "I should go. The longer I am here, the
greater chance Sasami or Kei-" Tsunami cleared her thoat, "-Tenchi will
sense my presense."

Washu winked. "I'll take good care of them, sis."

"Fare well, Washu."

Washu suddenly became angry. "What have I told you about that?"

Tsumani's smile grew as she faded from sight. "Little Washu, then.
Though, to me, you shall always be Skuld."
