Hey DB,

I haven't seen very much RK and I think this'll be one of the first stories
I've read based on the series. Be gentle, please. ;)

with both hands. Shopping in the market was an effort the required a fair
amount of skill. It was always crowded during this time of day, and of late

an effort that required

trained in the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu was an almost inhuman sense of balance,
and that extended to carrying bags filled with food, clothing, and other not
so basic necessities.

Whips, chains and K-Y, among other things. Turns out, Kaoru is a kink freak.

They approached a fish vendor, probably to purchase tonight's meal since the
fish wouldn't keep until next week.

They/you aren't sure? This bit seemed scriptish, rather than prose...aic.

For a moment, it seemed Kaoru was going to agree, then she removed her hand
>from her head and blinked several times. "No. It's starting to pass. Let's
hurry and finish up, though."

It's not a tumor!

The gaunt man drew his own katana and held it in before him. "No. It is time
for me to come. I will not be turned aside."

Though not really the same, for some reason I was reminded of Rain's story
Winner. Ranma vs his dad, the Devil.

Kenshin was still in pain.

"Dad!"

So who wasn't?

"KAORU!" Kenshin roared.

So... it was a tumor, or something similar.

she had ever delivered in her life. "She died in her sleep. It happened
quickly and painlessly."

Reiterated for whose benefit?

"Am I?" Kenshin asked, then thought about it. "It doesn't really feel like
it, but maybe you're right. Someone I met sort of prepared me for this, I
guess. That's probably it."

I can see fighting for one's own life and accepting losing but to lose this
battle would bring a ton of guilt. Maybe. He did try his damndest.

Welp, I liked it. When I saw the title, I'd thought, "The Cat What Danced
With Death" might have been more fun, but oh well. ;) I think it fits in
with what little RK I've seen. Good job, DB!

"I screamed like a little girl."

My buddy, Dave, after we watched, "The Others."
