And here he's straight into combat without the slightest
attempt to a) confront Nekurow over his trickery, b) try
to convince Zeil that they don't have to be on opposite
sides or c) apologise to Shizuka for stuffing up.

Admitedly neither a,b or c would have been likely to
_work_ but I'm disappointed in Ranma that he didn't _try_
them.

a) That would be assuming he 'tricked' anybody.  Nekurow
got Ranma to do exactly what he asked him to do, didn't
lie to him or anything (Nekurow told his story as he knows
it; it's not necessarily correct).  The point of the trigger
was to see if Ranma would really push it (test failed, boy
is unreliable, kill girl.  It's a choice between 'life' and
'death,' and Ranma chose 'life').

b) Maybe.  I concede to this one.

c) Not going to happen since this is also what Shizuka
wanted to happen, too (even if it wasn't the brightest thing
to do, but what the hey).  She stuffed herself up the entire
fic, and if anything she should apologize to Ranma for
stuffing him up.
