I'm most puzzled by Halos' in the latter half of the chapter. Take for
example this scene:

[Impossible!  Order the Photon Cannons to open fire!]

        "No, wait!  Capture it.  We could learn more if we can take it
alive."
        Halos nodded, albeit reluctantly.  [As you wish.  We will
capture the creature instead.]<<

Given his stance and demotion, why is he so helpful to the Terrans now?
Either a lot has happened behind the scenes or names were mixed up.
