Practicioners of Chinese medicine do often "perscribe" herbal pills and
infusions.
I actually have some which I got in a Chinese herbal medicine store for
migraines...

Of course this is not like lithium or Prozac and THOSE sort of
perscriptions....
And, a quick look at the fist coupl eof anime episodes (I had the tape in
the machine already and so this wasn't really an effort...) shows that the
good doctor has a bunch of charts and body-maps as opposed to any of the
large bottles of herbs, sea-horsaes, dried mushrooms etc.

I *suppose* they could be in a store-room or something if people did want
to use more of the herbal medicine angle.

KASUMI: Akane! Why is your name on Dr. Tofu's prescription?

AKANE: You didn't know? I'm working as a pharmacist in my spare time.

Seriously, Dr. Tofu is a chiropractor and acupuncturist, not a general
practicioner or any other sort of doctor who'd be prescribing pills. I suggest
you make up another doctor to use in place of Tofu here.
