Interesting idea, but....
How are you going to explain Ranma's skill at magic or schooling? You
make it clear he been on the same, timeframe-wise, training trip as in the
canon version, but where/when did he have the time to meditate in the lotus
position, train in magic, or learn perfect Chinese?
Also why does Ranma have to be weak in martial arts? Just because he
refuses to fight does not preclude learning defensive skills or non violet
attack skills. How about, if his words fail, having him use Ki draining
attacks to remove violence or aggression from an opponent, or sleep spells
or even pressure points (like Dr Toufu used on Ranma) This would make a lot
more sense with Shampoo, if Ranma showed Superior defensive skills to
Shampoo attacks, and shampoo passed out in exhaustion while Ranma didn't. He
would have nether won or lost, but would have impressed the amazons enough
to become friends. If, as in your version, he wasn't better, but Shampoo
just held back, He would (should) get nothing but contempt, and acceptance
as a 2nd class person only from a village that places so much importance on
fighting skill/spirit.
Plus you have Ranma accepting his curse, and the resulting seppuku, with
a little too much defeatism. Even as a pacifist, he would be trying to prove
his manhood more, unless he is a total wimp with no ego or self worth at
all. A true pacifist would consider NOT FIGHTING, understanding your "True"
self, and the acceptance your karma, fate, kismet, or whatever your want to
call it, as the HEIGHT of manly-ness. The Ranma you seem to start to
describe might just prove he's a "man among men" through his good deeds,
actions, honor, and intelligence. You could still have Ranma as Ranko when
Nodoka is around, but only to gain more time to "prove" his manhood. Since
your theme is "the pen is mightier than the sw.. er, Katana" then have Ranma
write letters to Nodoka attacking her warped view of men and manly-ness, and
defending his actions/feelings and eventually his curse. One approach to
this without giving away his curse would be to write to Nodoka about his
feelings on femininity, and maybe make Nodoka think he's gay. He could
truthfully say he likes members of his own sex, since he is female
part-time. If he could convince her to accept that, the real truth would
relief to her. Plus could you imagine a distraught Nodoka trying to convince
Ranko to "seduce" Ranma and "make a man out of him again".
Example: * Ranko, you are such a beautiful young lady, If only someone like
you would show my son the true pleasures of sex, it would make me eternally
happy, and I would be MOST generous to that person....*
