It would seem that my site has developed a case of "Too Many Late
Nights".  I'll fix it.  Anyone who wants to read chapter 8 will be able to
after I make sure the link to that one isn't corrupt too.

    Chapter 6 - Descending Angel

Note: You don't _have_ to know about Variable Geo (or Advanced Variable Geo
as the game is called) to read this fanfic.  Expect spoilers for the Anime
and some self-made decisions on outcomes.

    ===================================================

    Repeat Intro:

In the near future, the faltering "Family Restaurant Industry" began to
sponsor fighting tournaments featuring members of their own staff in order
to boost their patronage... Full contact waitressing. As it quickly becomes
known as more of a success than even the most optimistic restauranteur had
hoped.

But there's more at stake here than prize money and free advertising. The
mysterious Jahanna Group, which has marketed the tournaments, has quietly
begun to infiltrate the restaurants which feature Full-Contact Waitressing.

The tournament fighters are called "VG Warriors" and carry special cards
that allow them to call and challenge each other among other things such as
call up specially-made rings and conformation poles which confirm that she
is a VG Warrior and that she is still active in the tournaments.

Eh.  Enough with the boring crap, ON WITH THE STORY!

Last Episodes: Manami and Jun recovered swiftly, but Manami was informed to
take it easy.  Yuka is still confused.  Someone attacked Satomi.  Miranda
knows how to manipulate both Elena and Yuka, plus she has something up her
sleeve.  Everyone regrouped at Yuki's apartment.

    ******    ******    ******    ******    ******

The group that had assembled around 6 PM in Tokyo Central Park was a little
larger than Elena had expected, but smaller than she had secretly hoped.
She noted that most of the people were the veterans, save Yuki and Azumi,
who had been glaring at each other since Azumi had arrived.  Jun was already
hovering near Yuka like an unrestrained fangirl while Manami sat with Elena
on a park bench, dejectedly sipping a soda.  Reimi and Satomi were managing
a nice conversation about the pressures of being a VG Champion.  Kaori and
Chiho were standing at the perimeter, looking for anyone who might be
watching when they shouldn't be.

"Well, better early than never, I suppose," RG's voice abruptly declared.

RG marched out of the shadows with Angel, his eyes sweeping the area.  As
he approached, Elena turned her attention to him.

    "Sensei-" Elena began.

    "Everyone here?" RG asked.

"Anyone who was interested," Reimi responded.

"Well then, that means everyone's here," RG stated.

RG gestured to Angel.  Angel clenched a fist and formed a thin dome of
energy around the group.  The dome expanded outwards and became an opaque
rectangular barrier.

Glancing around briefly, RG announced proudly, "There, no interuptions.
And we'll be invisible and silent to the outside world.  As if we didn't
exist,"

"Sensei, what is this all about?" Elena demanded.

"Hmmmm, I've been thinking for hours on how to explain this.  Everything
might be out of order, but I think I've got the explanation down.  The
easiest thing way to explain is to show you," RG responded.

Sitting down, he pulled out a crystal ball and charged it with energy.
Tossing it forward, it began to grow in size.  In seconds, the ball was
enormous and floating in the middle of the barrier.

"Just watch history unfold," RG told them.

The VG warriors stared at the sphere.

Mariko 'Typhoon' Asamiya, a stunning woman who looked remarkably like Yuki,
but considerably more beautiful and well muscled, looked at the old man.

    "Excuse me?" she asked.

"I asked if you would care to face a powerful opponent," the old man
repeated.

Always up for a challenge, her eyes glittered with interest as she
inquired, "Who and when?"

"She wishes to remain anonymous.  Tomorrow night in the park, near the
lake, at around 8 PM.  Defeat your challenger and you will have proven
yourself the mightiest in the world," the old man declared.

"The old man, he's your master, right?" Yuka asked RG.

    "Yes.  Please watch," Angel answered.

Hearing no further explanation from RG or Angel, Yuka turned her attention
back to the ball.

The next night, Mariko arrived in the park right on time.  The old man and
a younger RG stood by the lake, as promised.

"You said I'd have a tough opponent, old man.  Where is he or she?" Mariko
inquired.

"She'll be here..," the younger RG responded.

Just then, a brilliant light appeared in the air.

"There is your opponent.  Tamao, the Goddess of Battle," the old man said,
motioning towards the figure of light.

The figure of light landed, resolving into a young woman with long brown
hair tied back into a two long braided ponytails.  Mariko had just enough
time to recover from the shock before the old man lifted a hand and
announced, "FIGHT!"

The battle was fast and fierce.  Mariko and Tamao traded blows at an
incredible rate, neither quite managing to gain the upper hand.  Finally,
after what seemed like hours, Mariko was knocked backwards, stunned, bruised
and exhuasted.  Tamao looked mildly worn, but no worse for wear.  Offering
Mariko her hand, Tamao pulled the VG Champion to her feet.

"I have not had such a fight in ages.  Thank you.  Train hard, you still
have a lot of potential.  I look forward to fighting you again," Tamao told
Mariko.

With that, Tamao vanished, leaving only wisps of light behind.

As the images abruptly stopped, the ball shrank and returned to RG's hand.

RG began to explain, "Now for the summary.  The next three years after
that, Mariko challenged the Goddess Tamao again and again, and while she did
considerably better each time, she still failed to defeat the Goddess.  In
the fifth year of the VG tournament, Miranda Jahana won the tournament.
Miranda was challenged as well and lost.  Unfortunately, the second year
Miranda won again, this time by killing Mariko, she cheated to wear down the
Goddess in order to capture Tamao.  The Goddess Tamao fled as did my master
and I.  Over the years, the Goddess has finally relented and is going to
challenge the winner of this year's tournament as she did in the earliest VG
years,"

"Why did the Goddess have to flee?  I mean-" Jun began to inquire.

Angel interupted, "The Goddess is only as as powerful as the current
strongest VG warrior.  She restrains herself to make the fight a fair one,"

"So, what's the problem?  I mean, the Goddess doesn't have anything to fear
now..," Kaori inquired.

"The problem is that Miranda Jahana has been resurrected from the dead once
more and is no doubt going to try and capture the Goddess again.  Her
failure last time has no doubt taught her how to cheat further.  If she gets
her hands on the Goddess, I fear what she may manage to do.  Even if she
doesn't get the Goddess, Tamao may flee permenantly, in which case, humanity
will never reach it's peak potential in combat.  You all will never reach
the full power that is resting inside of you.  Humanity may never see a true
evolution," RG answered.

"How do we know this Goddess really exists?  I mean, you seem powerful
enough, you could fake it all," Chiho inquired.

"Why would I bother faking such an elaborate history just to create a
'false' Goddess?  Besides, I know that if you weren't at least interested in
fighting her, you wouldn't bother asking that sort of question.  Even if you
don't fight her, you know you want to at least see her fight in person.
Watching her on this ball means nothing in comparison," RG responded.

"What's the point of telling us all this then?  Only one of us is going to
see the Goddess," Azumi demanded.

"Because I'd like to ask for your help in tracking down Miranda and
defeating her.  I fear that I cannot interfere in the workings of this
tournament due to cosmic bylaws set by Tamao herself.  I'll help you all as
much as I can, but unless the Goddess flees for good, I have to remain out
of the VG tournament," RG answered.

"Wait, what does Miranda have to do with the VG tournament?  Even if she is
alive, there's no way she could've registered this late," Elena asked.

"I don't how or when, but she did.  I didn't know until earlier today, but
both she and another person managed to register secretly in the VG
tournament.  They changed their names, but they have cards and VG video
recognition," RG began, before meeting Reimi's gaze, "You'll find them
listed as Mary Jihunah and Sake Jihunah,"

    "So, what now?" Elena asked.

"It's late, so you should all go home for tonight.  Refrain from talking of
the Goddess.  The last thing we need is more idiots trying to capture Tamao.
Try to be here again tomorrow around 10 AM.  We can plan from there.  If
all goes well, most of this will pretty much be forgettable in the future
and the tournament will resume it's once normal operation," RG finished.

With that, the barrier faded as Angel and RG left.  Silently digesting the
turn of events, the VG warriors began dispersing.  Chiho left silently to
check on RG's claim of Miranda's revival.  Reimi followed shortly.

With a wave of her hand, Jun allowed Yuka into her apartment.

"Sorry, but all I have are some ramen cups," Jun apologized.

"It's all right.  I'm just glad Satomi could stay with Manami.  Ayako was
giving her some funny looks last night," Yuka responded.

Jun nodded and closed the door, nearly trembling with excitement as Yuka
came into Jun'S OWN APARTMENT.  If she were any more excited, she have to
giggle hysterically or beat her head against a wall.  Jun had been spending
the last few weeks changing her apartment around just in case this sort of
opportunity every presented itself and it had paid off.  Her spare mattress
was in storage, meaning they had to sleep together.  There was only a small
couch, a 38 inch TV and VCR on a stand, and a coffee table in the living
room, so they had to sit next to each other.

Jun had some campagne, but that would only scare Yuka out of the apartment
if she brought it out, so it was ramen noodles.  She paused, bad plan, bad
plan.  Noodles weren't romantic, but she only had-

"Looks like I've got some snacks.  Want some?  They don't take long to
make..," Jun offered.

"Um, I don't want to-" Yuka began.

"Pshaw!  It's no trouble!" Jun said, thanking her mother for teaching her
how to make those little flaky crab cakes.

In a few short minutes, she brought out a tray with the delicacies, after
wisely taste-testing one to make sure it was right.  Yuka sweatdropped
mightly, but Jun easily ignored it.

    "See?  No trouble!" Jun declared.

Yuka said nothing, as the clatter from the kitchen made it obvious that Jun
was trying to impress her.

"Try one!" Jun said, eagerly presenting one.

Yuka took it, stared at the foodstuff and tasted it.  She was shocked that
it tasted good, but the shock faded as she reached for another as Jun sat
down.

"Let's watch something," Jun suggested, thanking her luck that the TV guide
was in the kitchen and thanked the TV programmers that were showing a nice
romance movie on.  If Lady Luck looked like Yuka and were present in the
apartment, Jun would've given her a series of long and passionate french
kisses.

With a click of a button, followed by the swift and repeated stabbing of
the "STOP" button and some intense blushing, they were watching the recently
made "Kind Romance" by Naoko Takeuchi instead of "Hardcore Lezbo Action 8"
by Long Richard Johnson.

The story was a sweet one about two best friends that slowly grew to love
each other.  One of the two spent his college years with another girl, who
became an understanding ex-lover, while the rest of the film surrounded the
two friends.  Maybe it bent the laws of reality a bit with the Turbo Ninjas,
but it was nice quiet film.

When it ended, Jun was surprised to find herself laying across the couch
with Yuka resting on top of her.  Yuka's head rested on her bosom and Jun
could hear her soft breathing.  Jun cupped Yuka's head and smiled in
content.  They didn't have to go through their relationship fast.  Jun found
herself thinking about just spending nights like this.

Unfortunately, previews for the rerelease of Grappler Baki blared out of
the TV, startling Jun.  Jun grabbed the remote control and jabbed the "Mute"
button, before relaxing again.  Then, as if the universe was conspiring
against her, Jun felt a pain growing in her back.  As nice as the position
was, the couch was short and the arm Jun was resting against was beginning
to dig into her back.

Jun gently and reluctantly peeled Yuka off of herself and got up, leaving
Yuka to rest on the couch.  Turning off the TV and clicking off the lights,
Jun picked up Yuka and carried her to bed.  For three long minutes, Jun
debated joining the brunette in bed.  Sighing, Jun undressed, grabbed the
spare blanket and pillow out of her closet and went to sleep on the floor.

About an hour later, Yuka opened her eyes and looked around.  Noticing Jun
on the ground and she was still dressed, she sighed in relief.  However, as
she kicked her pants off and was about to go back to sleep, she paused.
Clambering out of the bed, she knelt down next to Jun.

"Thanks, Jun.  Sweet dreams," Yuka whispered, before hesistantly kissing
Jun on the cheek.

As she headed back to bed, she heard Jun sigh contently in her sleep.

At Yuki's apartment, things were a tad different...

Elena stared at the ceiling.  She tried not to notice the sounds, but it
was a little difficult as someone had stupidly placed the headboard of her
bed against the wall.  Every moan and whimper became quite audible.  Every
thump, squeak or shake of the opposite bed was felt by Elena.  The pants and
sudden gasps were bringing a slow, but steady blush to Elena's face.  She
could even hear the smack of flesh against flesh.  The wall was supposed to
diminish noise, but it seemed to amplify it ten-fold.  She heard the whisper
of lust and every throaty growl.  Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.
She got up and marched out of the room and abruptly entered into Yuki and
Ayako's room.

Yuki looked up from her book as Ayako moaned.  Taking off her glasses, Yuki
inquired, "Something wrong?"

"Don't your neighbors ever give it a rest?!" Elena demanded.

"Those two?  From what I can tell, rarely," Yuki answered as Ayako's snores
became audible.

"Geez, you try and get some sleep..," Elena said, throwing her hands up in
disgust.

Yuki put "The Hitchhiker's Guide to Xanth" by Douglas Adams and Piers
Anthony down and got out bed, careful not to wake Ayako.

"Come on, let's move your bed away from the wall," Yuki suggested.

    "Right," Elena agreed.

With a tap of a few keys, the doctor sighed.

"There, it's done.... I must warn you that this level of splicing has never
been attempted.  There may be flaws or unexpected tramua.  After all, we are
genetically altering pre-existing material.  Even gene-splicing of two
identical twins has resulted in madness as memories from both suddenly
activated," Dr. Akatski declared.

"Thank you.  Once I'm certain my needs have been met, I'll inject the
antidote into Dr. Wess here," Miranda answered.

Dr. Akatski stretched.  He was certain his work was as good as it could
ever be.  If Miranda was going to double-cross him, she probably do so once
she confirmed that his work was actually accomplished.

The biggest problem with this was that it was sort of like trying to figure
out a problem on a computer.  Sometimes it was the programming, sometimes it
was the hardware, occasionally both.  There was no real way to know what
would actually carry over to the altered clones.  Maybe it would be
intelligence.  Maybe it would be strength.  Perhaps some recessed gene would
occur, creating either a slight alteration, such as a few strands of hair
being blonde instead of red, or sometimes it was a major alteration, like an
extra set of limbs.  All of it depended on the incalculateable variables in
messing with genes and DNA.

There was still hope, though.  Perhaps Miranda would give him the antidote
and let them leave as promised.  She had been a business woman and thus,
knew not to double-cross certain people.  But if wasn't written down, five
to one odds were that she was going to do something that wasn't even
discussed in the deal, like shoot you in the head or have your car towed.
Petty or not, Dr. Akatski doubted he and Dr. Wess would get away completely
free.

Dr. Akatski's eyes narrowed as the door opened and Miranda's 'pet' Saki
walked in on all fours.  She rubbed up against Miranda's legs like a cat,
then sat down and looked up at Miranda.  Akatski didn't know what had been
done to Saki, but knew that the woman was probably not in her right mind.
No one cuddled up to Miranda Jahana.  Miranda looked at Saki as if the
crouched cat-like woman was speaking.

"So, they're near?  Hmmm..," Miranda mused, before smiling evilly, "Have
fun with them,"

Before Saki could move, Miranda's hand snapped down and gripped the top of
the green-haired woman's head fiercely.

"But DON'T let them know where this base is.  The last thing we need is
interuptions and I want my new toys to have a week to adjust to their new
master," Miranda warned, letting go of Saki.

Saki dashed out of the room, like a lioness would run across a savannah.
Dr. Akatski didn't let the interest show on his face, but he knew Miranda
had made the conversation interesting on purpose.  She was probably begging
him to ask what the whole conversation was about so she could tell that it
was none of his business.  He refused to ask, because it would let her know
that he wasn't really interested.  He just wanted his friend cured and
permission to leave.

"Don't worry, Doctor, you'll be allowed to leave once this is over.  And
I'm not feeling too much spite towards you, so I don't think I'll be
double-crossing you.  After all, you've done such fine work," Miranda said
abruptly.

Dr. Akatski's blood ran colder than it normally did, but he refused to let
her see his fear.  He remained silent as she left the room, laughing
heartily as she went.

RG and Angel sat in a warehouse.  Normally, RG liked to refrain from being
in warehouses, but it was obviously a trap.  He sensed Saki's ki inside of
the place.

    "Sensei-" Angel began.

    RG nodded.

"Do you think you can take her?" RG inquired.

"..... I... think so," Angel answered.

"Then do so," RG said, waving her forward.

Angel strode forward until she was in the middle.

"Third student of the Endless Master, come out of the darkness and face the
fourth, lest ye be branded a heretic to the Master's ways!" Angel shouted.

    "Good intro," RG complimented.

Saki leapt from the darkness, landing almost perfectly opposite of Angel.
Angel and Saki's eyes met briefly, before Saki's eyes flickered up to RG.

"She has challenged, you Saki, not I.  Best keep your eyes on her.  The
Master wasn't the only one to teach her," RG warned.

Saki's eyes narrowed as she looked back to Angel.  Raising her hand, Saki
swatted Angel away without a second thought before leaping toward RG.  RG
rolled his eyes.  Saki found herself caught in an energy barrier that felt
almost like soft foam.

"I told you.  Angel was the one to challenge you, Saki.  And while you
think she is down, she is not, and I won't let you even think of challenging
me until you've truly beaten her," RG stated, lightly pushing Saki back into
the unofficial ring.

Angel was already back on her feet, a red mark on her cheek where Saki had
struck her.  Growling, the younger student leapt forward and unleashing a
minor barrage of energy.  Saki swatted aside each blast and grabbed the girl
out of the air, viciously slamming her against the concrete.

"I don't think she's in our league, dear friend," Saki laughed cruelly as
she picked up and threw the smaller girl against the groung again.

"I suppose you MAY be right, but you aren't in my league either, Saki," RG
laughed.

"RISING TASSLE!" Angel cried, unleashing a ki-charged rising kick.

Saki didn't react in time and was sent across the room to crash into some
wooden crates.  Clambering out of the mess, she snarled and leapt at Angel,
who was not only back on her feet, but also prepared with a counter-attack.
A roundhouse kick to the face later, Saki was on her back.

"I told you not to underestimate her, Saki, and what do you do?  Ntch.  You
are so pathetic.  Nothing like the first.  I guess you'll always be a
wannabe," RG taunted.

Leaping to her feet in a flash, Saki unleashed a savage barrage of attacks,
sending Angel reeling.  RG's eyes twitched as he heard the sound of bones
breaking.  As Saki's hand rose to finish Angel's life, Saki found her body
paralyzed.

"That's enough, Saki.  You've proven yourself stronger than her," RG
declared.

A wave of his hand later, Angel was no longer in the warehouse.  Saki broke
free of her paralysis.

"Do you really think you're in my league?  Let's find out, shall we?" RG
asked, grinning evilly.

"How did you get all of that power?  Did our master give it to you?" Saki
demanded.

"What?  The Endless power?  That just lets me live forever _IF_ I take care
of my body.  I'm no more powerful now than I was before I took accepted
that," RG responded.

    Saki glared harshly at him.

"If you like, I'm willing to handicap myself..," RG began, an amused smirk
on his face.

Reimi growled in frustration as she slammed her hands down on the oak desk,
cracking the once prefect surface.

"DAMMIT!  Mother, how did you do this?  Was it planned from the beginning?"
Reimi demanded.

"From what I can tell, since her defeat at the Goddess' hands," Chiho
responded as she appeared suddenly in Reimi's office.

Reimi didn't even bother to ask the girl how she had gotten in.  Chiho had
slipped past security last year and while the precautions had changed, she
no doubt changed with them.  At least the ninja girl was no longer in the
habit of covering her face with a mask.

"So, how did she do it?" Reimi inquired.

"Simple.  All the security procedures in the VG main computer were made to
keep information from being alter without high-level security clearance.
All she had to do was fake it," Chiho responded.

Reimi snickered, then giggled, then began laughing.

"What did I say?" Chiho inquired.

"'All she had to do was fake it'...," Reimi managed to get out before
resuming her laughter.

Chiho groaned inwardly.  This was getting ridiculous.

"In any case, I found out that the Goddess Tamao is also in the database as
a VG warrior.  She, Miranda and that 'Sake' girl all have pictures in the
database, proving that they are in the tournament, even if by not entirely
legal means.  But it would seem that there is no real rule prohibiting
people from joining so long as fifty percent or more of the existing
fighters have not been defeated, so that is why they have not been removed
from the roster.  You just need the high-level clearance and permission from
the reigning VG champion to add yourself," Chiho continued.

"... Mother knows all of the rules and regulations.  She also knows that it
is only a matter of time before we attempt to track her down.  She's no
fool.  We had better plan for a trap," Reimi answered.

    Chiho nodded and vanished again.

    "I hate ninjas," Reimi declared.

Reimi was not entirely surprised when a plushie of herself flew from the
shadows and rebounded off her head.

With a sizzle, the body hit the ground with a vicious sounding *THWUARCK*
RG coughed politely and got up from his dormant position.

"So, Saki, ready to call it a night?" RG asked, turning to face Saki.

Saki's words were certainly not befitting a woman, even she were a
tight-leather-wearing badass of a woman.

"I'll take that as a yes," RG grinned, leaving Saki on the ground.

RG paused, then turned back to her, "If you want to challenge me again,
I'll up for tying both hands and feet behind my back.  You can even ask for
the blindfold again, but as you could tell from this fight, I wasn't
hampered by the lack of sight anyway.  You may as well have plugged my ears
while you were at it,"

Saki looked up at him with murder in her eyes.  As soon as she got those
bones set and her joints relocated, he would be so dead.  RG burst out
laughing at her sheer stupidity as he casually strolled out of the
warehouse, the ropes that were supposed to have bound his hands and feet
behind his back at the doorway.

Saki managed to pull an emergency call button out of her pants pocket and
pressed it.  Miranda wouldn't be pleased, but the last thing Saki could
stand was that smart ass, RG, walking away while laughing.

===============================================================================================

What's Miranda got up her sleeve?  What sort of twisted creature do she had
waiting?

Will the girls be able to prepare?  Will there be a significant plot twist?

Can Saki and Angel recover in time to get another scene?

How many more times will Daisuke be thrust into danger by lazy authors?

Is Jun and Yuka's relation going to go anywhere?  What about Yuki and
Ayako's?

And will there be another lemon scene?

No, Doctor Akatski and Doctor Wess were not inspired by anything.

Long Richard Johnson?  I've never heard of him.

Naoko Takeuchi is known best for Sailor Moon.  If she has another project,
it will be waited for.

"Hitchhiker's Guide to Xanth" a crazy thought I had.  I like some Piers
Anthony's works and most of Douglas Adams' books.  If the two were to
collaborate, this is what most fans of both would like to see.

Do I have a plot twist?  DO I HAVE A PLOT TWIST?

I might.  Depends on what counts as Plot Twist these days.  I mean "Good
Will Hunting" was acclaimed as 'brilliantly titled', and so many filth
encrusted pieces of tripe are getting "critically acclaimed", so using that
as a reference, I may just have the plot twist OF THE CENTURY!

And if anyone has or knows of a page where I can find pictures of K1, K2,
Miranda Jahana or Material, I'd really appreciate it if you dropped me a
line at: akun15@hotmail.com and labelled the subject [Advanced Variable
Geo].
