Hmmm... here's half of it, the beginning of the Lain half of Untitle.
This is actually the roughest draft I'm planning to send, and I will
revise it vis-a-vis comments on it. It's mostly an adaptation of
layer:01 as I remember it, because my VHS copies are not available.
Now, while I don't usually scream this loudly for it, I really need
C&C for this part, as this will be the context in which all the
Device portions of Untitle will be written in.
That is, Device portions will be written in a Lain manner, while the
Evangelion-esque portions, E-mote, will be written in a more usual
manner. Also, not all Device portions will be written in this
perspective, as Lain begins to grow connected, and so will begin to
notice more things in her world.
If it is too confusing, too visceral, too inane, too divergent from
the Lain storyline, please say so. At this point, this is more of
a fan thing than I'm used to, and there's really not much leeway
for me story-wise. I guess you're as much in control of this as me. :)
Hmmmmm... I know I haven't had much luck with pre-readers, but any
and all willing to ride whip (and possibly take over if I lose wind)
with me on this are welcome to come aboard.
Also, you'll notice that Lain is called Rein in parts. In the
original, it's noticeable that her name is pronounced as the English
word "lain" rather than phonetically, where it would sound more like
"line". "Rein" is as close as I want to use using Japanese syllables -
and aside the fact that it's indicative of who Lain is in this fanfic.
I guess I cheated. This portion is always short, as the dialogues and
descriptions can be easily encapsulated. E-mote 1 will be (taking)
considerably longer - I still have to figure who ends up where.
