The last kernel finally exploded from the pressure and Setsuna Meiou
stopped the microwave. Removing the bag of popcorn from the microwave,
she carried it with her to another part of the small kitchen.

Pausing briefly, Setsuna opened the door to the freezer section of
her refrigerator and removed a frosted glass. After setting the glass
and popcorn on a counter, she took a bottle of root beer from the
refrigerator and poured it into the glass. A straw was added just as
the drink reached the perfect temperature.

Setsuna retreated from the kitchen, snuggled into a plush recliner,
and tossed a piece of popcorn into her mouth. Sipping from her drink,
the green-haired woman reflected on the fact that while there were few
benefits to being the Guardian of Time, the side effects were well worth
it.

                               Chapter 2:
                              Acceleration

The being known as Mokona did not know what "fuzzy logic" meant but
it was fuzzy and, given its appearance, surprisingly logical.

Bouncing down a street of the Nerima ward, Mokona knew exactly where
it was supposed to be, when to be there, and what to do once it got
there.

All of this was unknown to a small black pig who, upon spotting the
strange creature, immediately jumped to the conclusion that another
Jusenkyou victim had come to Nerima and would soon be in a fight with
Ranma Saotome. This was, in Ryouga Hibiki's mind, simply more proof
that it was all Ranma's fault.

Sasami was cutting carrots when the knife she was using suddenly
turned into a transformation wand. She stopped moving and stared at the
wand for several seconds.

This was not because she did not recognize the object. Having a
pink handle with white frosting-like swirls and a purple gumdrop shape
on the top, the wand was immediately identifiable to anyone who had seen
it before.

What Sasami did not know was what to do about it.

The last time she had seen it was several months ago right before
defeating, Sasami shuddered at the memory, an invasion of giant bedbugs.
Tsunami had not liked the series of events either, giving a lecture in
her dreams that night and ranting about being completely humiliated in
front of her peers.

Sasami wanted to help people. Since the wand had reappeared then
whoever or whatever was in control of it must believe that it needed to
be used. On the other hand, she also did not want Tsunami or her sister
angry at her.

Sasami decided to ask Washuu for advice. Washuu was the only
household member to figure out what had happened when the mysterious
"Candy Sailors" had been mentioned during the television newscast. *She
didn't have to laugh so hard at the picture,* Sasami thought with some
annoyance as she went to find the greatest scientific mind in the
universe.

The sirens stopped blaring as a small finger pressed the blinking
red button.

"Report, computer," commanded a groggy voice.

The response came from a very feminine voice. "Fifteen minutes ago,
an anomaly was detected in Tokyo, Japan. Data follows."

Young eyes widened as the information scrolled across the large
screen. "This is amazing! Not a simple space-time portal or a
dimensional gate, but a method of transitioning between _planes_ of
existence! Whoever created this must have skills comparable to my own."
A frown crossed the boy's face as he contemplated this. "Since my
devices have picked up this anomaly, then Mandark's most likely did as
well. If he were gain control of such technology who knows what
diabolical plan he would unleash upon the world!"

"There is only one thing to do! I, Dexter, will have to go to Japan
and warn this genius of Mandark's evil. Computer! Prepare the Giant
Robo!"

A teenager with pink hair and ruby eyes suddenly appeared in a
deserted alley. This occurrence was partly because one of the laws of
this particular universe is that deserted alleys tend to not stay in
that condition for very long.

Princess Usagi, daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and Endymion, was
once again in the city of Tokyo. A city that she had not seen in years.

Usagi's home, Crystal Tokyo, still suffered from attacks every once
and a while and Usagi felt that she should be helping the other Senshi
defend the city. Her parents, however, had been reluctant to even
discuss the possibility of her taking an active role despite the fact
that she was now the same age as her mother had been when she began
fighting evil. Usagi had almost despaired until Sailor Pluto had come
to her aid.

"Thank goodness Pu- I mean _Setsuna_ talked them into letting me
prove that I'm ready. Though I wonder what she meant about a final
test in the past?"

Usagi shoved her doubts aside, determined to prove to her parents
that she could handle any challenge. Usagi grinned as she pulled her
transformation wand out of subspace.

And stared in horror at the pink and brown monstrosity that appeared
in her hand.

"No," whispered the teen who wanted more than anything to prove that
she could be a serious and productive Senshi.

"No," she said as memories of acting giddy and cute alongside
several other equally nauseating girls plagued her.

    "NO!!"

The Dark King cackled evilly, which is one of the first things that
would-be villains learn at the University of Nefarious Doings. This
particular villain had received an A+ in CAKL 1401 and had gone on to
write a thesis entitled "Driving Adversaries Insane in Less Than Thirty
Days Using Dissonant Vocals." Needless to say, his evil cackle was
quite effective.

"My plan is perfect! Go forth my children and raise Niflheim!" The
Dark King knew how impressive it was to use words that his followers
would not understand. Unfortunately, no matter how impressed they were,
none of them moved.

"I say again, go forth and conquer the mortal world for your
master!" Glaring at the faceless minions that surrounded him, the Dark
King failed to find any of the expected response.

"Oh, come on! Just go destroy something, why don't ya?!" The forms
around him, many visible only as shadow and the others vaguely human
forms with white faces and blank eyes, continued to not do anything.

"Now I know why Beryl used generals," the Dark King muttered to
himself.

Azusa Shiratori was depressed. It seemed that what was cute one
year was simply obnoxious the next. Her fans had slowly but surely
deserted her after the Golden Pair's defeat and her partner had become
more girl-crazed than ever.

As she roller-bladed through the streets of Nerima, Azusa tried to
convince herself that she was just as cute as ever. But frilly outfits
and calling inanimate objects by French names did not have the same mass
appeal that it used to. The fans, _her_ fans, now swooned over people
like Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.

The balloon she was holding suddenly turned into a henshin stick and
Azusa allowed herself to roll to a stop. Looking at the object, she
reached a decision. Some girls were meant to be cute, keeping up with
the latest styles and fashions, leading lives full of glitter and light.
Others were meant to protect them, so that they could maintain their
cuteness and naivete for as long as possible.

If she could no longer be the former, then she would become the
latter.

Azusa gripped the transformation wand tightly, her mind fully
focused. Without her uttering a word, power rushed through her body and
reformed her clothes.

Azusa strode away in search of the enemies of cuteness.

A dazed Tatewaki Kunou, who had seen the transformation, decided he
had just had an epiphany.

The two most stylish beings in the universe, or so they thought,
were browsing the shops of Nerima when a large baby blue station wagon
roared past them and around a corner. The _somethings_ that the vehicle
carried immediately caught the attention of the pair.

"I don't recognize that type of Pokemon," commented the male of the
pair.

"They certainly looked... different," the woman mused.

"Oooh! Rare and valuable Pokemon for us to capture! The boss will
be so pleased!"

"Well, what are we waiting for? Beware, Nerima! Team Rocket is
here!"

"And we'll get what we want, never fear!"

Jesse and James laughed as they ran full tilt after the station
wagon.

Shiiko Kotobuki immediately understood the implications when the
pencil she was holding turned into a transformation wand.

The whole class stared at Shiiko as she laughed boisterously. Eiko
Megami jerked away in surprise, causing her desk to topple onto its
side.

Shiiko proceeded to shout her transformation phrase. Biiko
Daitokuji held her nose closed as Shiiko's clothes were ripped away by
explosion of light and power.

Sailor Sweettooth launched herself out a window and began making her
way toward Tokyo.

Miss Ayumi decided to ignore the interruption, something she was
becoming increasingly good at, and continued her reading.

"'For, although common Snarks do no manner of harm...'"

Ataru Moroboshi felt like he was on top of the world.

First, there had been the gymnast who managed to wrap him up with a
ribbon and tie him to a lamppost, which could have been interesting if
she had not bounced away so soon afterward.

Luckily, he had quickly found another girl to occupy his attention,
a cheerleader who apparently liked jumping _very_ high. Even as he
hoped he would not strain his neck, he decided that the view would be
worth it.

The only sad part was that he had yet to get his hands on one of
these visions of loveliness. They were much more energetic than most of
the girls that lived near Tomobiki high school. Nevertheless he was
full of energy himself and it would be only a matter of time before they
were within his grasp.

Marler snickered from her perch on top of Ataru's head. Dark energy
that most people could not see arced from her hands into the Ataru's
body. The boy had an incredible stamina to begin with. Once her spell
completed, he would be unstoppable.

The Chicken clucked, shattering several nearby windows. The nervous
shuffling of its feathers caused several miniature tornados to form,
further damaging the surrounding buildings and turning over a car.

The Chicken leaped onto the top of a building and began roof-hopping
at ridiculous, even by Nerima standards, speed.

Wearing a schoolgirl 'sailor' uniform composed of a blue skirt,
white blouse, and a red bow, Skuld stepped off the bus and onto the
sidewalks of Nerima. The bus pulled away and Skuld began looking for
the unusual though she didn't expect to find anything so quickly.

A very large pig ridden by a cute girl charged past the bus stop.

Skuld blinked. The crowds parted for the giant pig as it continued
down the sidewalk, yet none of the pedestrians was panicking. *Does
this happen often?* Skuld wondered.

Before any more thought could occur, a young green-haired boy riding
a small hovercraft scuttled past. Again, the crowd treated it as a
normal happening.

"Oh, yeah. This is going to be fun."

                                  ***

The museum guard blinked and rubbed his eyes. For a moment, he
thought he had seen some kind of large white spider. The guard
looked at the museum visitors around him, but none of them were acting
like they had seen anything unusual.

He was about to dismiss it as his imagination when he noticed that
one of the modern metal sculptures had been restructured...

    Into a giant smiley face.

Notes:

You'll be glad to know that the next one is already about 30%
written. (It's unusual for me to have more than an outline of the next
chapter.) Hopefully there won't be nearly as much delay.

Sorry about Dexter, I can't stop myself from throwing in an American
character every now and then. Hehehe.

Chibi-Usa will be called 'Usagi' for the rest of this 'fic. The
original Usagi won't show up, so there shouldn't be any confusion.
