I'm a very insensitive person...I forgot to thank Chimamire Kitsune for giving me the idea...wherever you are, this is for you.

Here we go again...

Note I put in the title * Shonen * not * Shonen-Ai *. Shonen-Ai (male-male relationship) and yaoi are just not my cup of tea. Still, even with that cleared out, I hope that this fanfic goes out swell. BTW, although this fic isn't about Shonen-Ai, it can be pretty suggestive (rest assured, Kurama remains a male here). In addition, even if it ain't Shonen-Ai, it doesn't necessarily mean that there are no yaois lurking around...or else this wouldn't be such an interesting fic.

"Are you absolutely sure, Botan?" Kurama asked, worry apparent in his voice. Though his icy stare may lead one to think otherwise.
Botan bobbed her head up and down. "Hai. Hiei...really took a beating."
Kurama merely nodded. "Do you have any idea who could have done this?"
"Koenma-sama believes that this...person...is the one you are looking for."
Kurama furrowed his brow. "The investigation..."
Botan merely nodded now, completely sobered by the situation. "Hai. Instead of finding the trouble, the trouble...found you."
Kurama eyes were now mere slits, the similarities of his human and kitsune-demon form more apparent. "You better inform Yuusuke now. This is going to be a long week."
"Well, he was the very first one I've told." Botan replied.
Kurama shifted slightly. Yuusuke, as the leader of Koenma's favorite tanteis, was a bit on the...impetuous side. If he was informed so early on..."
"Ie! What were you thinking? He'll have a blood-hunt for that bastard!"
"Well...that is what Koenma-sama expects him to do."
Kurama just stared at the blue-haired mistress of death. What in hell was Koenma up to? "He 'expects' him to do?"
Botan bobbed her head up and down, pretty much returning to her cheery, normal self. She seems to be taking this quite well. "You do know when Yuusuke gets angry..."
Kurama just shook his head. This is probably one of those times when Koenma has absolutely no idea what he was getting the four tanteis into...

(Note: In the battle with the sacred demons, Koenma was desperately looking for information about the enemy in the royal archives * while * the four tanteis were already battling in the maze castle ^_^)
***

The alley which Botan found Hiei was now empty, no indication given to show there had been a fight, save some charred pile of trash in the corner. There, Yuusuke stood.
The young tantei was already beyond himself in anger. Sure, he may not be Hiei's biggest fan (although he ain't worse of like Kuwabara). But he still has that grudging respect for the Koorime. Besides, * nobody * hurts any one of his friends.
Although even all the anger in the world could not help him in finding the long-gone enemy.
	Not that it matters.
	"Yaro (bastard)! Show yourself!"
The wind merely laughed at his face.

***

Kurama stared at the ceiling of his room. As a kitsune-demon, he has his own sort of jagan (third eye) in sensing trouble. But that was usually reserved for sneak attacks or for recognizing the ki of his enemies during battle. His sense of premonition in this situation is completely different. A sense that ningens (humans) are more familiar with...that feeling of dread when something bad is about to happen. To this feeling comes a jargon of semi-coherent thought.
<What if that thing suddenly goes after Yuusuke, or Kuwabara? The odds are certainly against, him having beaten up Hiei-san so badly...how is Hiei-san doing anyway? I hope he survives... What if this * thing * goes after me? I think I could handle it...bit what about kaasan...?>
Kurama froze at the last thought. There was a noise coming from his mother's room...somewhat akin to metal clanking in the floor. He instinctively ran towards Shiori Minamino's room. The let out a heaved sigh of relief to see her by the window...she was doing some needlework and her toolkit just fell. She's a bit startled though, and was now looking at Kurama with worry in her eyes.
"Shuichi...is there something wrong?" his kaasan (mother) asked.
Kurama let out a little laugh. "No...nothing's the matter, kaasan...I was just a little bit startled by the noise. What are you doing?"
To this 'Shuichi's' kaasan brightened up. "I've decided to take up needlework as a hobby, son...I'm a little rough though. I haven't been doing this since I was a child."
To this an animated discussion on needlework followed (actually, it was more like Kurama asking and Shiori making detailed accounts about the wonderful world of the needle and thread). This kind of situation may bore to death any other boy his age, but Kurama has a high regard and respect for his kaasan (not to mention that there is no boy his age...in kitsune-demon years, anyway ^_^).
When the discussion finished, Kurama left his kaasan with her hobby. He mouthed the words "Sayonara, kaasan. Ai, shiteiru." in the doorway of his mother's room, to which he got the silent reply "Sayonara, Shuichi. I love you too."
In the outer hallway of the Minamino residence, Kurama swore to himself, <I won't let any monster touch my kaasan. Not even one hair.>
In the distance, atop a tree branch, a dark figure could not help but smile.

***

Yuusuke was very tired. Tired and angry. This is not a good combination of feelings for the young tantei. "K'sooo...what now?"
He was presently romping in a park somewhere. Sure, he was willing to admit, he wasn't all that bright. To the very least, he was no Kurama. But, he always has the stupid luck that gets him through the tightest spots in situations. Apparently, his luck has helped his again. He suddenly felt a slight jitter in his senses...
<Damn! He's here!> His mind shouted. It didn't take him long to see the foreboding figure standing atop a branch of a nearby tree. Though there was little light, one could see the blankness of expression in the person's face. Yuusuke didn't even hesitate.
	"Rei Gan!"
The large ball of ki subsequently charred a whole path of trees, but no armor-clad figure was in sight. He suddenly felt a chill in his back.
"So alive...I want that kind of spirit in a person."
Yuusuke charged again. Fervently. The bishounen figure didn't even need to use his hands to dodge the millions-per-second punches(tm) of the young tantei. He could see no opening to Yuusuke's attack, so he simply teleported to the distance and did his attack. Yuusuke charged further, not quite prepared to what happened next.
Opening his chest like a car's glove compartment, he stared blankly at the charging tantei. Yuusuke, for all his bravado, began to slow down.
"N-nani?" Yuusuke spat, startled. His legs began to feel like rubber. He suddenly felt so tired, as if all his energy was sucked up. He never felt so exhausted, even that fight with Toguro Ototo. "W-what did you do to me?"
The figure shrugged. "I drained your energy. Nothing more. You should consider yourself lucky."
"What do you mean, LUCKY!?" Yuusuke rasped. He couldn't believe the amount of apathy found in the armor-clad bishounen's voice. "Who are you? What do you want with us?"
To this, the bishounen replied, "Tell Koenma that he has no concern in my welfare. What I seek is none of his business...it shall be mine with or without the interference of his annoying little tanteis."
Yuusuke's anger rose incredibly. A memory of Hiei, sprawling on the ground with his abdomen bearing a black-bluish tinge, appeared in his mind. He asked one last question in an unnervingly calm voice. "What do you want?"
	"Minamino Shuichi's soul."
To that, a feral cry was heard all across the park. There was an explosion. Then, silence.

Yeah, yeah, I know...the usual, pathetic pattern of super powerful villain beating up the good guys but good. <Sigh> I really don't have that much against tradition anyways...oh, I know! It's a parody! Yeah, that's it! A parody of Yuu Yuu!

I'll shut up now.
