        The false Marionette.

This story takes starts eighteen years before SMJ.

Hajime Koto sat across from the lab table and frowned deeply. His work
spread out on the table before him, a wry smile crossed his features as
he looked at the data spread before him. "I think I can do it!" he gasped
as he glanced around the room. His brother looked up from his paper and
smiled slightly.
"Do what?" he said cheerfully, he was one of the more feminine men.
Always concerned with the state of his hair or other ridiculous nonsense.
"I think I can clone a woman," stated the man gravely as he looked down
at a huge pile of technical data before him.
"Don't be foolish Koto-chan, if it has eluded our greatest scientist for
this long, what makes you think you can do it?!" snapped the man angrily.
He had always thought poorly of his brother's strange obsession. "What is
wrong with me?"

In what sense are they brothers? Or does this culture refer to lovers as
"brothers"?

Koto frowned at the man as he crossed his legs and smiled at him.
"You're a man that's what's wrong with you," he snapped. The younger man
gave him a wry smile and went back to his newspaper.
"Well, you aren't a geneticist and that stupid little chemistry set in
the basement isn't near enough to what you need. Besides, we don't have a
permit for cloning here." The man sighed and stood up heading for the
kitchen purposely dropping his paper on the frustrated man's paperwork.

"Damn you Yotaru, I swear I'm going to do it!" He stomped down the stairs
into the basement and flicked on a switch revealing a dirty and haggard
looking laboratory. Large pieces of equipment stood in corners covered in
old dirty rags covered in dust, one particular corner housed a messy
looking desk that was covered in papers and garbage. Koto smirked as he
shoved it all onto the ground and pressed a button hidden under the desk.
A wall opened up revealing a pretty looking red haired girl floating
gently inside of a tube, she was no more than a year old, but the lack of
genitalia clearly showed what she really was.
Several others appeared next to her in various states of animation. They
were all long since terminated, many of them horribly disfigured mutants.
The oldest one looked to be only seven weeks old before he terminated it.
He turned to the glass and stared at the girl longingly. "At last, I've
done it, your data reads perfectly. You are the first woman on this
planet." He could feel the awards coming to him, after twenty-five years
of suffering he had done what generations of cloning could not. Almost as
an after thought he flicked the switch on an intercom with an evil
looking grin and heard the voice of Yotaru in it's feminine formal tone
floated down to him. "What is it Koto, I'm busy," snapped the man. He
could hear the sounds of frying in the background.
"Come down here, I have something to show you," said the man in his most
cheerful voice.

Yotaru gaped in horrified shock at what he saw before him, "That's..."
"Yes, a real woman, Yotaru I've done it!" the man was almost giddy.
"Koto, what have you done?" said the man with a slight waver to his
voice.
"Why, I've saved humanity from this lie we've been living! No longer will
a man have to degrade himself to another, or a stupid machine!" he
laughed triumphantly rearing his head back and throwing his hands into
the air.
"So, this will..." said the feminine man composing himself slightly.
"No, she cannot bear children, unfortunately I don't have enough data to
make something like that. She will have to be cloned again and again just
as we are, but think of it!" he turned and frowned suddenly as Yotaru
glared at him with angrily.
"I am not enough for you Koto-san?" he snapped.
"This isn't about you Yotaru, this is about humanity," snapped the man
bitterly as he glared at his companion.

Right. After all you _can't_ have been talking about your relationship when
you referred to a man "having" to degrade himself to another.

"That thing!?" the feminine man was crying freely now.
"It is not a thing, it is a she!" screamed the man in rage.
Yotaru smiled and looked at his companion with a soft gaze. "I'm sorry
Koto, I can't allow this."
Koto heard a loud pop and a sudden wet and warm sensation in his belly.
He jerked forward and slammed his fist against the lamp on his desk
knocking it aside. He then pushed a large red button under the base of it
and smiled with a bitter laugh escaping his lips. "I thought you might
try something like this faggot. I tried to share with you and you spit it

What's this "faggot" nonsense? In a society with accepted homosexuality
where does that epithet come from? Why is he calling his lover a cigarette?

back in my face. Now there is nothing you can do to prevent this," he
fell over face first on the floor and smiled as the man raised his gun
pointing it towards the tube.
"I cannot allow this," he said again with tears falling down his face.
He fired a single shot and Koto watched as his arm dropped, followed by
the rest of him as he collapsed to the ground. The man gave a smile of
satisfaction as the wall closed around the tube. "Bullet proof glass?"
gasped the feminine man.
"Die you betraying bastard," snapped Koto as he blacked out and noticed
the large red stain growing on his lover's abdomen. "One day, one day..."
he whispered gently.

Well what do you think? C&C greatly appreciated, mostly because I won't
continue without it. I've heard a lot of complaints about too many Ranmas
here so I decided to try something different. Want to find out what
happens when a young Koto the second stumbles across his former self's
life long work? Or how about why he has to keep her a secret, forcing the
girl to live life disguised as a marionette? If you want to know tell me
about it. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!
Also as you can see, this will not prevent me from continuing my other
works...which has yet another add on to it. Sigh, this way I actually get
about one part of each story out a month.
