<In the theater>

Nicole: Where the hell is he?

Yui: Last time I checked, he was in the scripts department.

Nicole: Ack, that's why Natsumi went to fetch him.

<Brian and Natsumi enter the theater. Brian is looking worse for the
wear.>

Natsumi: Found him near the "cage".

Brian: <cough> Remind me never to go near there again.

Nicole: Now that that's over, can we get on with this?

Brian: Hai, hai. <notices something> Err...Nicole, why'd you bring your
sword?

Nicole: <hefting her Celestial Sword> Just in case that jerk Duo tries
something.

Brian: <sweatdrop> Riiiggggghhhhttttt....<to projection booth>...Roll it!!

[Andrew and Ruri are sitting in the theater]

Ruri: Finally gotten around to writing another chapter of Lightsphere, I
see.

Andrew: Yeah... sorry for the delay. I've been kinda distracted.

Ruri: Yes, but that was only until your exams finished. What's your
excuse for after that?

<Nicole, Natsumi, and Yui glare at Brian, who sweatdrops>

Andrew: Well, I...

[The pair are interrupted as the door flies open, and a teenaged boy with
braided hair runs in, hotly pursued by two red-headed females with bad
attitudes]

Asuka: Duo-samaaaa!!!! [glomp!] Come on, we're perfect together!
We're
even the right number for each other!

Iczer-2: [Pulls Asuka off Duo] Oh, no you don't! He's mine, got that?

[While the Iczer-2 and Asuka are arguing, Duo runs and hides under the
desk]

Duo: Hey, I thought D-Boy was the one I was gonna introduce the fic
with!
Where's he gone?

Nicole: DUO!!!! DIE!!!! <She leaps up dramatically, sword ready to slice
him in twain...>

Brian: <pulls a switch>

<Nicole is flattened by a SD Xenogears plushie>

Brian: Nicole, you know the rules: No maiming, folding, bashing, or
mutilating 'till after the fic.

Nicole: <flattened> Hai....

Ruri: He went off with Amuro and Camille. They got into an argument
with
him and Shinji over who had the most angst, and now they've locked
themselves in solitary trying to settle it.

Duo: Sheesh, Newtypes... Oh, by the way, you know how Andrew's been
saying the fic was gonna turn dark? Well, it's starting now. [Notices
that Iczer-2 and Asuka have seen him] Here's the fic! [Runs away, hotly
pursued by the redheads]

Nicole: Whatsa matter, Duo? Can't handle two girls?

Brian: I'm not even going to try to answer that one.

OPERATION: LIGHTSPHERE
An Iczer/Teknoman crossover fanfic
by Andrew Dynon

Phase 3, Chapter 5:
"Torn Away"

OP: "Lightning Heart" (OP for the second Galaxy Fraulein Yuna OVA series
-
and BTW, yes, it's "Lightning" and not "Lovely" like ADV put)

Brian: Are you sure? I thought I heard "Lovely" in the song.

Any and all C&C NEEDED. MSTs especially welcome.

* * * * *

"It is among the greatest ironies in Kthulhu history that, despite our
technology being among the best in the galaxy, and, in most respects,
superior to that of the Rhadam, our greatest hope for victory is the
theories of a millenia-old, hand-to-hand martial art form. It was from
Aeczi-lyr that the idea of "synchronization" first entered our
consciousness. According to its philosophy, there are three types of
synchronization - synchronization with the self, synchronization with
another, and synchronization with synchronization - the ability to engage
in multiple synchronizations simultaneously. Despite the scientific
study
of psionics, these philosophies were completely ignored by mainstream
science prior to the Second Impact. The principles of synchronization
were
first put into practice - albeit with extremely limited understanding -
in
the Evangelions. Imperfections in technique at this time had horrific
effects on the EVA pilots.

Yui: <blanches> Don't remind me.

"The first positive proof of true synchronization was Iczer-One's
merging
with Ishua's Younger Princess Raura Karura, and later with the Earth
human
named Kano Nagisa. What became clear from these synchronizations, and
from
Iczer-2's failure to properly synchronize with Sepia, was that there are
certain prerequisites for a full synchronization. From this, it was
clear
that the synchronization increased the subjects' combat ability
exponentially. Further studies revealed that the Y chromosome must be
absent from the subject's genetic makeup, and that certain psychological
traits, particularly some level of tendency toward what some other races
call "homosexuality", while not required, appear to be helpful.

Brian: This...open a whole new field of question, doesn't it?

"An Iczelion is the embodiment of the Synchronistic principle, the
merging
of a biological and a robotic entity. Varieties of Iczel currently in
use
are the Bronze and Copper general purpose types, the Silver high
speed/manuverability type, the Gold ranged combat type, the Black close
combat type, and the unique "Prime" models used by Kai Nagisa and Raura
Karura V. Another unique model, the Emerald type, is currently being
created.

"There are still conflicts between the Aeczi-lyr philosophies and our
scientific understanding. For example, there has not yet been any
evidence
that the simealtaneous synchronization of more than two entities is
possible, as the philosophy claims. However, we have learned to take the
philosophy of Aeczi-lyr seriously, and it is due to this that we are able
to protect other races as efficiently as we do.
	- General Indigo, preamble to the Iczelion Platinum [Elite Type]
Prototype
combat test report.

"Synchronizing for the first time was the greatest experience I ever
had.
It's like being on fire, except it doesn't hurt."
	- Auburn, Gold Iczelion and leader of Iczelion Team Epsilon, quoted by
Cyan in her final-semester Tactical Studies essay.

* * * * *

The blue-armored Teknoman's energy bolt sliced through the /Fuji
Empress/,
overloading the ship's reactor and reducing its hull to a shower of
debris
in the dark of space. For a second, Kawai stopped, frozen at the sight
of
its destruction.

It was a second too long.

Natsumi: MOM, LOOK OUT!!!

The blue-armored Teknoman had flown at her again, and Kawai, distracted,
could not hope to avoid the strike, or to raise her barrier. She stood,
helpless, as the sword descended upon her - and then found herself
knocked
out of the way, tumbling out of danger.

"Nani?" Reorienting herself, Kawai turned to see Shara, the enemy
Teknoman's sword imbedded below her left shoulder, blood spurting from
her
body, forming tiny, shining crimson globes that floated in the
zero-gravity.

"Shara!" Blade screamed in horror, before letting out a despairing cry.
"No! Not again!!!" Then, he stopped short as he saw Shara turn his head
toward him, her bright green eyes still open.

{Nick, I'm all right.} Without needing to speak, Shara sent her
thoughts
to her brother. Concentrating, she let energy flow through her beam
sword,
its emerald radiance growing more intense. She thrust forward, and the
blade of energy penetrated the Rhadam Teknoman's chest and out through
his
back. For a few dreadful moments, his metallic form convulsed, flailing
wildly at Shara. Then, he was still.

{Shara, your body has sustained grievous damage.} Her Iczel told her.
{I
must shut down your consciousness or you stand great risk of being
killed.}

{All right, Iczel.} Shara sent. She relaxed, and in a few seconds all
was black. Privately, the Iczel was amazed that she had not died
immediately upon being struck. As its internal probes swept through her
body, attempting to assess the extent of damage, the Iczel felt something
-
something within Shara. Shara's Iczel only felt its presence for a
moment
before it disappeared, but there was no mistake. There was something
within Shara's soul - something the Iczel was completely unfamiliar with.

Brian: <checks fic archives> This wouldn't have anything to do with what WH
pulled with Shara, wouldn't it?

"Shara!" Blade called worriedly, cutting through the spider-crabs that
tried to obstruct his path toward his sister. He picked up the
pale-green-haired girl, and cradled her limp form in his arms.

"Shara, are you all right?" Blade asked. "Can you hear me?". His
sister
failed to respond to him.

"She may live." Blade heard another voice - a familiar, threatening
one.
"That is, she may live a few seconds longer than you, brother. At least
she'll join you after you're finished." Saber pointed his Teklance at
Blade, whose eyes seemed to glow with anger.

	"*You.*"

Nicole: And the brothers meet again!

Natsumi: Now, who's gonna survive this fight?

* * * * *

Cyan shifted nervously as she stood in the chamber, waiting for the
Saryan
commander to make his entrance. She had reservations about Sarya - to be
honest, she did not enjoy the fact that the planet was part of the Sphere
one bit. The world was a military dictatorship and somewhat less than
considerate towards its populace. She felt sure that it was only due to
the Rhadam being such a massive threat that the Kthulhu had granted them
protection. She could not gauge how Min'rhe, the captain of the Lyrinae
mercenary vessel which the Saryans had hired, thought about them. During
the conversation she had had with her, the violet-skinned mercenary had
been completely task-focused, responding only to questions which related
to
the upcoming battle. Cyan's attempts to get her to reveal her opinions
had
not borne fruit, and it was against regulations to try to use telepathy
for
something which was not, at the moment, a matter of military importance.
She wished Indigo could help her, but it was too difficult to contact her
via telepathy from this distance. And aside from that, she reminded
herself, Indigo wouldn't want her to depend on her so much.

All: Awwwww.......

The commander entered - he was a well-built, attractive man with long,
blond hair, appearing significantly younger than Cyan had expected.
Behind
him, Sarya's surviving Iczelion, a young woman with short brown hair,
named
Jalir, came in. Of the three Iczels sent to the world, one had been
intercepted en route by the Rhadam. The two others had arrived on-planet
and managed to find partners to synchronize with, but one had been killed
a
little over a month ago, in an attempt to stop Rhadam forces from landing
on the planet. Thanks to her efforts, the Rhadam had experienced
significant delays, but still dominated one continent, and had managed to
seed spore-plants over a great deal of the others. Jalir's thoughts on
the
matter were obvious from her body language as she looked at Cyan, never
mind the emotions she was unknowingly broadcasting. What her fellow
Iczelion had achieved by her sacrifice didn't matter to her - she had
lost
someone she cared greatly about, and she held the Kthulhu - and Cyan -
responsible for the loss. She was doing her best to protect her planet,
but anger and resentment was not far beneath the surface.

Yui: This...could be ugly.

"I bid you welcome." The commander - his name was Ogakan - said.
"Min'rhe, thank you for accepting our request for aid against the Rhadam
forces. Cyan, your race has also aided us, for which we thank you. It
is
unfortunate that you were unable to provide as much assistance as we
would
have liked. Fortunately, though, we have managed to survive with what we
have." Cyan had guessed beforehand that Okagan would not be willing to
withhold. His words still stung her, though, especially when she caught
the way Jalir looked at her, her eyes icy and bitter.

"I apologise on Iczer-One's behalf for that inability, Commander
Ogakan."
Cyan said, hoping that she was keeping her voice level. "However,
recriminations at this time will only be counterproductive. We should
focus our attention on how to defeat the Rhadam.

"I see you do not wish to be drawn into the matter of your, shall we
say,
delays." Okagan replied. "Nevertheless, yours is a very valid point.
What
forces have you brought with you?"

For a long time, Cyan and the others present debated possible
strategies,
Cyan's suggestion of quick action, to take advantage of the sudden boost
in
numbers (a plan significantly influenced by her mission's requirements),
weighing against Min'rhe's desire for a more cautious, drawn-out
approach.
Jalir pointedly avoided making recriminations against Cyan during the
planning session, which only served to make Cyan more worried. Her
apprehension over Jalir's misgivings ate at her, and she worried that it
would distract her, at a time when she desperately needed to concentrate.
She promised herself that she would soon let Jalir talk to her, allow the
girl to release all of her frustration over the loss. Hopefully, being
able to do that would help her.

{Lieutenant Cyan, sorry to interrupt whatever's going on down there, but
it looks like trouble} The sender of the telepathic message was Kawai's
Iczel, on board the _Seriphos_.

	{In what way?}

{The Rhadam mothership is heading out of the system's first asteroid
belt
and towards Sarya.} The Iczel responded.

At least, Cyan thought, she wouldn't have to worry about getting bogged
down here.

Nicole: No kidding.

* * * * *

Nagisa relaxed as Iczer-1 carried her and Raura through hyperspace.
After
experiencing the sensation for the first time, she found she quite
enjoyed
it - the fact that she was in the company of her love and her
newly-discovered soul twin probably had a large amount to do with that.
In
her state of near-euphoria, she barely registered the fact that her head
had started aching, building toward what would normally be a painful
level.

"Raura... I never imagined that my soul twin would be a princess. I
used
to dream of being a princess when I was a little girl. I wanted to be
the
princess of a fantasy land, who had magical powers."

Nicole: You...and about a million and one girls here in CT.

Yui: No kidding.

"You never imagined that you had a soul twin like that, though." Raura
giggled. "Well, sort of like that. Ever since I was little, I dreamed
of
having a soul twin. I think it was because I wanted someone to play
with."

"And you didn't have anyone like that on Ishua." Nagisa said
sympathetically.

"Since I was a princess, I got cloistered away from everyone. I had to
learn how to be a lady, and how to treat everyone who attended the court.
I wasn't even permitted outside the castle! I tried to go out a few
times,
but I always got caught before I made it past the wall. Aura was my only
real company for as a kid, and by the time she was thirteen, she was so
busy with her duties as Eldest Princess that I hardly saw her. When I
was
chosen as an Iczelion... well, at first I was just scared, but then... I
realised I wasn't trapped in that castle any more, that I could do
something that was really worthwhile. And then, I remembered Iczer-1.
And
I met you."

"Oh, Raura, I'm so sorry." Nagisa said, almost, but not quite, crying.
"It must have been awful for you. And I thought I had it hard just
because
I got picked on at school!"

"Don't be sorry." Raura answered. "It's in the past. Anyway, there
wasn't anything you could have done." She smiled.

"Actually, I kind of wish I could have been picked on by other kids. I
know how strange that sounds, it's just that... I hated feeling so
special
that no other child even had the right to look at me."

After that, Raura and Nagisa simply smiled at each other. Iczer-1,
likewise, was silent. All three knew without being told that nothing
more
needed be said at that time. It was enough for each to simply experience
the sensation of the other's presence.

Then, Nagisa and Raura alike felt piercing agony explode into being
inside
their skulls, the headaches they had been ignoring multiplying in
intensity
a thousandfold. Iczer-1's hyperspace flight halted instantly as the pair
simultaneously screamed - it was obvious that something was VERY wrong.
When she halted, she laid eyes on the being who was undoubtedly the cause
of the shock - a female very much like herself, with long pink hair and a
black bodysuit.

Natsumi: ...and the you-know-what offically hits the fan.

"Iczer-1... she who destroyed my mother. At last we meet, my younger
sister. You as well, Nagisa and Raura." Iczer Zero said. "Imouto, I
have
been ordered to bring your captives to meet my masters. I could kill you
if I desired, but I have promised you to another. I suggest you stand
aside and allow me to take them."

Nicole: Hey...wait a sec...CAPTIVES?!?

Yui: Methinks someone hasn't been told the whole picture.

Natsumi: And what was that about "promised to another"?!?

Brian: Iczer-2?

"I shall never allow that." Iczer-1 said, placing herself between Iczer
Zero and the two girls.

"I thought not. Well, it's going to be hard on you." A beam sword
appeared in the pink-haired Iczer's hand.

	{Iczer-1, she's powerful.}

	{We need to synchronise.}

Nagisa and Raura's astral bodies moved toward Iczer-1's. As they were
reaching for her, though, blood-red psychic energy glowed in Iczer Zero's
eyes. A massive psychic shockwave hit them, burning their astral bodies
as
if it were a searing flame. In the weightlessness of real-space, their
eyes became blank and they floated, comatose.

<Nicole, Yui, and Natsumi wince>

"DAMN YOU!!!!" Iczer-One screamed in uncharacteristic rage. She
attacked
with a fury she had never before felt, wanting desperately to hear her
enemy feel as much pain as she herself did. Her attacks, however, hit
only
vacuum.

"I'm disappointed, Iczer-1." Iczer Zero taunted. "I thought you'd know
how excessive anger has a bad effect on your concentration." Iczer
Zero's
fist crashed into the back of her half-sister's neck, then she teleported
in front of her, kicking her in the solar plexus. Iczer-One's vision
blurred as she fell backward.

All: <wince in sympathy>

"It's not even interesting like this. Looks like your younger sister
will
get to deal with you after all."

By the time Iczer-1 came to, Iczer Zero, Nagisa, and Raura were gone.

* * * *	*

As his companions battled the seemingly endless waves of spider-crabs
and
their Teknoman masters, Blade thought only of the battle against his
twin.
So far, neither combatant had managed to strike a major blow, but Nick
was
more than a little worried. Cain was definitely moving faster than
before,
his strikes more dangerous - Nick was forced to remain on the defensive
most of the time simply to avoid allowing his brother to strike a
decisive
blow against him. Yet, he knew he had to do something about that
situation
- preferably soon. The longer the fight went on, the more of an
advantage
Saber would have.

Once again, the twins' armored bodies flew past each other, striking and
parrying with their teklances. Blade spun around, and glimpsed Saber
hovering, stationary.

{Is he tired?} Deciding to take a risk, Blade flew at him from behind.
Saber turned somewhat sluggishly, and for a fraction of a second, Blade
thought that he would win the battle. Then, Saber vanished in a flash of
red light.

{What?} Blade hesitated, confused by his twin's disappearance... just
before Saber appeared again, above him. Blade hurriedly swung his
teklance
upward to deflect what would have been a killing blow. Saber's weapon
still funched through his armor, leaving a gash in his neck and back.

Brian: "punched"

"Blade, hold on!" Ringo yelled. He swung his mecha around, firing at
Saber, but the shots went wide. Saber teleported again, appearing next
to
Ringo's mecha and slashing upward, destroying its sensors. He then
turned
back toward his wounded twin. He teleported, and Blade tried to
concentrate, to detect where Saber would attack from. Catching a glimpse
of Cain's red-and-black armor to his left, he tried to dodge, but Saber's
teklance stabbed into his thigh, and he again yelled in pain. Wounded
and
in pain, Blade tried desperately to defend against the beating Saber was
giving him, but as many blows got through his defense as did not.

Brian: That last sentence made no sense at all.

"Blade!" Star yelled worriedly, taking her concentration off the
spider-crabs she was battling. Her mecha shook as it was rammed by one
of
those creatures, giving her an unsubtle reminder of what she should be
focusing on.  {A lot of these things, aren't there?}

Nicole: Oh, she noticed?

Brian: Be nice.

{Hai, we are severely outnumbered.} Her mecha's AI sent. {Recommended
course of action is retreat.}

"How are Kawai and Iczer-3 doing?" Star asked.

{They are engaged in battle against five teknomen. We cannot hold our
position here much longer.} A small segment of the mecha's tactical
display switched to Kawai and Iczer-3. Kawai was concentrating on simply
avoiding her opponents' strikes. Iczer-3 was counterattacking, but
taking
several hits in the process.

{I can't just leave the others.} Star thought. Then, she saw two
streaks
of red light heading for her - Teknomen, she knew. She had seen that
giveaway red flash so many times, now.  (Uh oh...}

Natsumi: Oh shit...

She managed to dodge the first teknoman's attack, taking her mecha up
and
left to evade his teklance, and cutting through him with her mecha's beam
sword as she did so, only to find herself dead in front of the second one
-
whose shoulder plates were open, and glowing with red energy.

"Ah, shit! Full power to shields!" Knowing she would not be able to
evade the blast, Star braced for impact, hoping against hope that she
would
survive.

	The bolt never hit her.

As the Teknoman was about to fire at her, a wave of bright yellow energy
appeared from behind Star, hitting him head-on. He did not even manage
to
scream before he was vaporised. Star turned to see a girl with
blue-green
hair in two ponytails waving to her. Her rescuer wore golden armor
similar
to Kawai's evolved Iczelion armor. Nearby were four other Iczelions, all
evolved.

Brian: Heh, saved by the calvary.

Nicole: Nice tension builder.

"Well done, Turquoise!" The group's leader, a slender woman with white
hair, said. "Team Alpha, make sure everyone gets out of here okay, then
we
can concentrate on beating these guys!" she commanded, firing an energy
bolt that penetrated the chest of one of the Teknomen attacking Kawai,
then
drawing twin beam swords and attacking Saber. Turquoise fired her
cannon,
vaporising most of the spider-crabs near Ringo and Saber, while the other
three members of the team intercepted the rest of the Teknomen. "Earth
group, there's a ship called _White Shield_ not far from here. Retreat
there!"

Nicole: *There'* a familar naming scheme.

Natsumi: Heh.

"Blade, you should get into Pegas." Star advised. "It's a bad idea for
you to stay in your Teknoman form much longer."

"I don't have that time limit any more, Star."

"Don't try and be tougher than you have to, Blade. Your Teknoman form's
still very stressful on your body, and with the condition you're in..."
Star trailed off, wishing that for once Blade could be less stubbourn.
{Computer, get a lock on Blade and teleport him here once he's returned
to
human form.}

	{Hai.}

Blade descended into Pegas' open hatch, and a few seconds later appeared
inside the cockpit of Star's mecha - naked, and bleeding from several
gashes on his body. He collapsed forward, and Star let go of the mecha's
controls to embrace him.

<Nicole, Natsumi, and Yui nosebleed>

Brian: Oy, vey. <gets fireballed by Nicole>

"Blade! Oh, it's worse than I thought! Will you be okay?"

"Sure... Star... Sure... I will." Blade managed to say. He was
trying
to pretend his wounds were no problem, but the obvious agony in his voice
betrayed the reality of the situation. Star had never seen him this
badly
off before.

{Star, he is mortally wounded. I must place him in stasis if he is to
survive.} Star's mecha's AI sent. Star sat in silence for several
moments.

	{Star, did you hear me?}

	"Blade..."

	{Star!}

"All right. Computer, put him in stasis." Star ordered. "Do you know
where _White Shield_ is?"

"Hai. One of Team Alpha's Iczels sent me the information."

	"Take us there, then."

"Star..." Blade said, fighting through his pain and the drowsiness
caused
by the stasis he was being put in.

	"What is it, Blade?"

"I want... you... to..." Before Blade could finish his request, the
stasis treatment overcame him. His eyes closed and his body went limp,
collapsing in Star's lap.

"Blade, you'll be all right, won't you?" she asked, hugging him again,
not caring that her clothes were now drenched in his blood. "Because
Shara's going to be okay. Kawai's got her, and she's taking her to the
ship. She'll probably wake up and see you asleep in the bed beside her -
I
bet that hasn't happened since you two were kids, right? You don't want
to
disappoint her. And your cousins will want to see you when they come
back.
And you still want to beat Saber. And, Blade... Blade, I love you." As
Star said the last sentence, tears welled in her eyes, and she leaned
forward and kissed him on the lips.

Through her blurred vision, she thought she saw him smile - but when it
cleared, his expression was the blank one of a man in stasis.

All: <sniffing and reaching for Kleenexes>

* * * * *

	Pain.

	Pure, agonizing pain.

That was the first thing Nagisa knew about when she awoke. Her head
felt
as though it was exploding like a nuclear bomb. For long seconds, the
burning agony in her brain was the only thing she was conscious of, the
desire that her skull would somehow split open and release the pain
inside.
But it did not, and she could only endure the agony.

Slowly, her other senses became active. She became aware that she was
naked, tied in a cruciform posture in waist-deep orange liquid, with
organic-looking tendrils wrapped around her limbs. A numb feeling
permeated her entire skin, making her headache seem even more intense.
Instinctively, she knew where she was.

<Nicole, Natsumi, and Yui all hold their swords at Brian's throat>

Nicole: Not. A. Word.

Brian: <sweatdrops> Ah-heh.

	{The Rhadam Mothership.}

{Iczer-1... Raura... are you there?} A wave of even more intense pain
rushed into Nagisa's head as she attempted telepathy. There seemed to be
a
wall of some kind of mental static around her, blocking her abilities.

{Is there... anybody... here?} She tried again, and the pain yet again
intensified, confirming her instincts about its purpose.

Nicole: Ouch, poor girl.

{Na---sa??} Despite the mental static and her ever-intensifying
headache,
Nagisa knew who the sender was.

	{Iczel... tell Iczer-1... tell her I'm dead.}

	{I ca ---ould sense --- not true.}

{Then tell her... situation hopeless. DO NOT ATTEMPT RESCUE.} She
forced
herself to emphasise the last four words despite her pain - an effort
which
would have caused her to collapse if the tendrils did not prevent her
from
moving.

Brian: Now where did hear something like that before?

Nicole: And you know Iczer-1's going to attempt a rescue anyways.

	{Ha---gisa.}

Nagisa deactivated her telepathy, but the pain did not subside - it
merely
stopped intensifying. She was doomed, she knew. She could only hope
that
Iczer-1 would heed her warning not to rescue her - and that the Rhadam
were
only going to kill her.

A door opened in front of her, revealing a feminine silhouette in the
doorway. She approached, stepping into the room's eerie light and
revealing herself.

Nagisa instantly recognised her as Iczer Zero.

"Nagisa, there is no cause for alarm ... well, actually, there is cause
for alarm. It just won't do any good." she said. "In any case, even
through the shielding, you can still use your psychic abilities. It
seems
my masters were correct about your power. The power that destroyed my
mother."

"Big Gold?" Nagisa could not help wondering aloud.

"Yes. And, with the Rhadam, I carry on her will. How much do you know
about the Rhadam, Nagisa? Do you know what the word means?"

Nagisa glared at Iczer Zero, refusing to answer.

"You probably know it's a Kthulhu word meaning 'evolved'. Any idea why
they used that word?" Iczer Zero asked, unpurturbed by Nagisa's
defiance.
"The Rhadam are right here. Look down."

Nagisa looked at the orange liquid that she was half-submerged in.

"They're the Kthulhu, Nagisa. The Kthulhu who merged with each other in
the Third Impact."

Yui: Then...that's LCL?!?

Natsumi: Makes you wonder a few things about the Radham...and Big Gold.

	"Masaka..." Nagisa breathed.

"It's true. My mother offered Violet's followers the chance to return
to
the fold, but they fled from their destiny. Therefore, they shall
perish,
while other races are allowed to serve us. Your abilities will aid us in
our cause."

"Do you really think I'll help you?" Nagisa asked derisively. Even
speaking beyond a whisper hurt, but it was worth it.

"We can force you to." As Iczer Zero continued speaking, Nagisa noticed
the tendrils around her limbs moving. "Oh, those? Don't worry, they
haven't had their way with you yet. I'll probably let them, though, if
you
manage to resist early on."

N, N, Y: <swords out again>

Nicole: Don't even try it.

Brian: I wasn't going to say anything!! Honest!!! <smirks>

<Nicole fireballs him>

Nicole: Did you forget I'm telepathic?

Brian: <charred fritters>

Nagisa didn't react. Compared to what Iczer Zero wanted to do to her,
rape would be next to nothing by comparison. She still found Iczer
Zero's
smile of sadistic pleasure as she spoke disturbing, though.

"I think you might remember something similar that happened. To your
grandmother, when she was your age."

Ironically, Iczer Zero's words sent a surge of hope through Nagisa.

{That's right, you bitch. And I remember how that turned out for your
mother.}

Yui: Oh, yeah! Butt-kicking time!!

END PHASE 3, CHAPTER 5

Whew!

This fic seems	to get harder every chapter! But I'm determined to finish
it!

Now, I did warn people the story would get dark this chapter. Don't
worry,
though, it's NOT going to turn into a hentai fic, despite Iczer Zero's
threats.

Yui: Good. One lemon chapter's enough. <smashes Brian with an AT-Field>
Not a word out of you!!

Brian: <flattened crepes>

Did anyone get the Buffy and Char's CounterAttack references?

All: No.

Warhammer (whom I have been talking about my writing to in my letters to
him) encouraged me to do more on the Blade/Star relationship. BTW, Brian
Yaple, since I know you're reading this, he's wondering why you haven't
written to him yet.

Brian: <feeling his crew's glares on him again.> Barring accident, parents,
or an Act of God, the letter should be in the mail by tomorrow, my time.

Okay, next up, I'm gonna finally get chapter 2 of "Sea-blue of the Stars"
written, and I'll probably revise chapter 1 as well. The next chapter of
Lightsphere should come after that, along with chapter one of "Defender".

Nicole: Yay!!

Next chapter: Wouldn't you like to know? [VEG]

Nicole: Urrrrr.....
