Embers
Prologue:
The Blessed Reunion of Souls
Sadojimi Hoji looked around. The sky was grey as was almost everything
else. He was suprised to see that he was still alive, and once noticing
that, he was even more suprised to see that he was dead. The
surroundings looked very familiar. It reminded him of Mt. Hiei, where
his master, Shishio Makoto, had died.
"This is... I thought I'd died but this is..."
An all-too familiar voice sounded from behind him. "You're in
Hell, Naturally."
Hoji was overjoyed to find that the voice belonged to his old
master. "Shishio-sama!"
When he turned he saw that Shishio was with his lover, an
ex-whore named Yumi. She laughed lightly. "See? I told you he'd follow
us here eventually."
Shishio smiled. "What are you waiting for, Hoji? Come on, let's
go."
"Let's go? Where are we going?"
"We have to begin our Kuni-Tori against Enma, the ruler of
hell."
He and Yumi started to walk away, expecting Hoji to follow.
The woman spoke. "Usui's got to be somehwere around here. Why don't you
ask him to join our group."
"I suppose" came the reply." He turned to see that Hoji hadn't
moved yet. "Hey Hoji! Don't just stand there, move it! I promised you'd
be the first to taste victory at my side.
Hoji exploded with delight "Yes! I'm home!"
Shishio continued on his way. "The era sided with the
Battousai. That's why I lost the battle. But now there's nothing but a
demon in my way. So this time there will be nothing to stop us." He
laughed in anticipation of victory. What he didn't notice was that a
nearby tree was laughing with him.

Misao- Hey Dave! How the heck does that work? I thoght that Moukuren
died well after the Kyoto arc.
Dave- He did. In order to make this work how I want it to I need to
have the idea that Time has no meaning in Hell... so it is entirly
possible for someone to arrive the same time shishio did while dying in
seperate time periods.
Misao- So you're saying that we'll see lots of deceased villains from
all sorts of sereis here?
Dave- Yeah... but primarily Kenshin and Recca. There will be no YYH
here though for a couple of reasons.. I haven't really seen that much
of the series and having YYH's Enma would make this the spirit world as
opposed to Hell...
Misao- Cool... Shishio's not gonna win though, right?
Dave- You mean to tell me you're rooting for Satan?
Misao- Well.. no... I hope they both lose.
Dave- Well, only time will tell.
Misao- Next Episode: Moukuren's Rebirth!
Dave: What's Yumi gonna have to say about this?
Misao- I dunno... but if he doesn't watch it Shishio just may have to
become the lumberjack of hell...
Dave- This I oughta see...
