The ideas, and the commentary they have generated, have made for some of
the more interesting things to come off of the list. And yes, I can vouch
for Maurice's story about the Hellmoth-J; I helped create the thing, after
all, along with a slew of variant mechs (files for MW2 and MW2: GBL are
available to those interested). By the way, the only problem with the
Mechwarrior games is the atrocious weapon ranges - take the range of their
gauss weapons (~1.5km) and compare with, say, the main gun on the M1A2
Abrams... and Mercenaries is even worse (it _halves_ the Mechwarrior
ranges!). My colleagues and I can be asked - nicely! - to provide various
tidbits from our collection of reference material as well as our collective
imaginations.
One thing I feel worth mentioning: someone actually asked why no mention
was made of Jyusenkyo. Answer: it's not essential to the story, even if
there was some way to get away with dropping it in. Quiaff?
But enough of that; on to the actual question, one that sprang up shortly
after reading this:
Why not use the Heavy Gear or Jovian Chronicles worlds?
Both can be found at your local gaming store under the aegis of Dream Pod
9 (or you can order direct from their website - www.dp9.com). Look
through, ask DP9 (and me) whatever questions you have, and voice your
opinions.
