Beginning part B

--------------------------

Everyone was seated at the table. Eagerly waiting for a explanation, especially Nabiki. When she had walked into the Dojo she saw Ranma and Seven of Nine hugging each other, the part that really surprised her was that Ranma was openly crying and when she interrupted them he made no move to wipe away the tears. Looking at them right now she saw that Ranma and Seven of Nine seemed to be content just to be in each others presence, we'll Ranma did, Seven looked like she was gonna kill Genma if the looks she was sending at the elder Saotome were any indication of what she was feeling.

Ranma looked around the table. When his gaze fell upon Capt. Janeway he smiled, remembering the memories that he had gotten from Seven of Nine. "Everyone, I would like you to meet my mom, Seven of Nine." He didn't have to wait long for a answer, seeing as how this was Nerima everyone recovered from shock inhumanly fast.

Then the room they were all in literally exploded, or it seemed that way as one of the walls blew in. The figure stepped through the wall and looked at the outlines of everyone before setting his sights on the shadowy form of Ranma's pigtail, then hefting his umbrella like a sword he prepared to make a cutting motion as he called out his battle cry. "Ranma prepare to die!"

It was then that the smoke cleared enough for Ryouga to get a good look at everyone else in the room. Kasumi and Nabiki were looking at Ryouga with annoyed expressions, the two fathers were still playing they're game of Go, there was a woman with blond hair in a business suite pointing some weird device at him, then Ryouga got a good look at Seven of Nine.

When the explosion occurred she had ripped open her Kimono and unwrapped the phase compression phaser that she had carried on her back like a katana. The skin tight suite she wore didn't leave anything to the imagination, its fabric hugged every curve of her body. It was this curvaceous figure that now gave Ryouga a nosebleed bad enough to result in fainting. If he had lasted a second longer he would've seen the expression on her face, the anger from her expression could well have frozen a volcano for several decades.

As she saw the young man fall unconscious she looked at everyone else in the room, then seeing that no one was offering her an explanation she asked the obvious question. "What the hell is going on around here?"

Seven of Nine continued to look at Ryouga like she still wanted to shoot him but she looked away to acknowledge the Captains question. "I think my son can tell you about this?" She motioned to the bloody prone form of Ryouga.

Ranma relaxed his stance and looked at capt. Janeway. "Sure, you might want to sit down this story may be a bit overwhelming." Turning to his mom he motioned to her open kimono and then to Genma and Soun. "You might want to cover up mom, they're starting to drool."

Capt. Janeway tried to suppress her chuckling as Seven of Nine blushed and covered herself. She sat down at the table again and sipped a bit more of her tea to calm her nerves. Given some of the facts that Nabiki had told her sitting right now would probably be the best thing for now, who knew what surprises she was in for.

The sound of the screen door being violently pushed open echoed through the hallway then running feet were heard as Tuvok came into the room with his phaser drawn. He quickly scanned the room with his eyes and tricorder noting the damage to one of the walls and the unconscious figure on the floor that seemed to be bleeding profusely. He put away his phaser before addressing his captain. "Are you alright captain, should I have the Doctor transported here?"

"Were fine Tuvok, just enjoying a.... martial arts demonstration." She looked at Ranma rearrange Ryouga's body to show Tuvok that the unconscious martial artist was okay. After seeing him nod she spoke her question. "What happened to the doctor?"

"We found a small cache of BORG devices shaped like Earth dragonflies, the Doctor took them up to his lab in Voyager to get a better look. He believe's he may be able to deactivate the nanoprobes they were injecting into." He briefly checks the screen on his tricorder before looking at Ranma and Seven of Nine. "I assume you are the test subject?" He inquired with a raised eyebrow as he saw how close Seven of Nine and Ranma were.

Shortly after Seven of Nine had told captain Janeway she had informed the rest of the bridge crew of the special circumstances surrounding the test subject and stressed how everyone should try to be understanding of Seven of Nines feelings. And right now Tuvok was thankful for that advice as he looked at Seven of Nine as she continued to glare at Genma. In fact if Tuvok didn't know better he might wager that Seven of Nine was contemplating having a accident involving her phaser rifle and the overweight man. Before his musings could proceed further they were all interrupted again by another visitor.

"Hello, is anyone home?" A woman dressed in a elegant kimono walked into the dining room and gasped at the damage done to the wall and then at the prone form of Ryouga who was still unconscious. "I wondered where he went off to, is he going to be ok?" She inquired.

"He'll be fine. And who are you?" Janeway answered the woman while eying the wrapped bundle showing over the womans back, she looked over to Tuvok to see that he was also taking note of the womans concealed weapon.

Regaining her composure the woman bowed before starting to say her name but was cut off when she caught sight of Genma who yelped in surprise and ran out of the hole, seconds later a splash was heard from the Tendo's koi pond. Everyone looked outside to see a panda playing with a tire, well everyone except Soun who is quietly sneaking out of the room.

"Genma?" The woman looked around confusedly, it was at that time that everyone noticed that Soun Tendo was missing.

"Would this be about some debt of honor that you've come to collect?" Capt. Janeway inquired innocently while putting on her best diplomatic smile. She looked around to see where Mr. Tendo had gone off to, but there was no sing of him.

The woman sat down without being asked and proceeded to introduce herself again. "I'm sorry, my name is Nodoka Saotome. And that." She pointed out of the hole. "Was my husband Genma."

"So you have been my sons surrogate mother since he arrived here?" Seven of Nine enquired in a voice devoid of menace, merely curiosity.

"Your son?" Nodoka asked innocently as she really started to look around the room after seeing her husband, who she had not seen for 10 years, flee through a hole in the wall. Her eyes fell upon Ranma. "Ranma....., son?"

Ranma tried to look away from the woman who he had thought really was his mother as a look of pure joy spread across her features. He just didn't have the heart to tell this kind woman that he really wasn't her son, in fact didn't she know that he wasn't her son. "Um, excuse me I have to go get Genma." Ranma then quickly ran out of the room intending to have a *talk* with Genma.

Nodoka looked at the hole that her son, Ranma had just run through with a forlorn expression.
She turned back to Seven of Nine. "What's going on here, why did my son run away from me like that.

Capt. Janeway introduces herself, Seven of Nine and Tuvok. They start to talk when Nodoka motions to the bundle strapped to Seven of Nine's back and asks a question.

"Family honor sword?"

Seven of Nine quirks her eyebrow and takes off the bundle before unwrapping it. "Compression phaser rifle."

"Oh."

Capt. Janeway and Tuvok shared a look and motioned for Nodoka to sit down while they told her everything that they knew, Nabiki and Kasumi contributed small details or other stories. Nodoka's reaction to the news was quite understandable.

"GGEENNMMMAAAAA!!!!!!!"

------------------------------------------------

In fluidic space the bubble composed of organic fighter craft writhed as sensors strained to detect even the most faint trace of a impending BORG attack. Ever since they received the broadband subspace signal from the remains of a BORG sphere they had been on full alert. Before the BORG had only sent just enough forces to distract the craft while a few scout ships got through. Now that the BORG knew where to find there test subject it was a safe bet they would send everything they had to recover it.

Suddenly a large force of BORG cubes emerged from a singularity less than 1 kilometer from the nearest fighter craft. Upon closer examination a new craft was sighted, it looked like a diamond. The organic craft didn't have enough time to consider that new fact as the BORG attacked.

Up until now all of the BORG craft that had fought them tried to distract them with tractor beams, nano-probe torpedos and cutting lasers. This time the tactics were horribly different as the first BORG cubes to reach the battle line didn't stop but plowed strait ahead. 30 organic craft and eight cubes were lost to that action, then the rest of the BORG force passed through the hole created by its vanguard. Several hundred fighter craft separated from their assigned positions to intercept the BORG force, the other craft kept watch unless this was some trick.

A separate organic ship immediately disappeared before the force of BORG ships reached its position.

Of the twenty surviving BORG cubes 8 of them kept right on course while the other cubes took up a defensive formation between the fighter craft and their objective. The organic fighters headed right for the still moving cubes, expecting the motionless cubes to use weapons they had already adapted to. They were about to streak between the cubes when those cubes started rotating then proceeded to open fire with photon torpedos. The ships that survived were destroyed as they collided with other organic craft or the BORG cubes while trying to evade the red points of light. Other fighter craft separated from their assigned positions to destroy the cubes, but it was too late.

Thats when the 8 cubes and the diamond shaped craft disappeared from sensors as they passed through a singularity.

------------------------------------------------

Several minutes later Ranma deposits a soaked, bruised, and defeated looking Genma onto the dining room floor where he begins to grovel at Nodoka's feet. The Saotome patriarch is barely holding in her anger as she passes judgement on her husband.

"Husband, could you please tell me why you mislead me into believing that Ranma was our son?" Her calm voice conceals the icy depths of her anger. Genma looks up into the ice blue irises of his wife and gulps at the silently promised vow of pain hidden in those icy depths.

"Well you see I needed a heir to carry on the Maribitsu Katsu Ryo and since we tried to make one, and failed." He gulps again as Nodoka begins to grab the hilt of her sword and continues as fast as possible. "One night while I was out walking the streets musing to myself I noticed this sparkle of light out of the corner of my eyes, I turned around to see a baby lying on the sidewalk. I looked around for the parents but when I didn't find anyone I decided to take the infant for my own."

"And you expected to get away with this?" Capt. Janeway asked incredulously. She couldn't believe that any person could be this stupid. Now to ask the magic question. "Genma how did you convince Nodoka that Ranma was her son?"

He looked around, his skin had gone extremely pale like he was afraid of being killed. "Um well...you see I got her really drunk that night I found Ranma then when she passed out I wrapped her head in bandages. When she woke up I told her that she had a accident while walking home from the grocery store. I introduced Ranma as our son but when she said that she didn't remember having a son I told her the doctors thought that she might have problems with her memories."

Capt. Janeway looked incredulously at the man before her. Never in all her years in starfleet had she come across such a idiot. Of course considering some of the stories Nabiki had told her concerning the elders weak spines she was inclined to believe that Genma the business sense of a Ferengi. In other words he would sell who ever he had to just to make a profit, no matter who he hurt.

Genma gulped when he figured out that no matter what he said he wasn't gonna get out of here without some help. He looked around for Soun but seeing that his friend had already fled the premises he fell back on a age old tactic, running away. It might not work but he was too scared to even try thinking of anything else.

Unfortunately for Genma Seven of Nine still had her phaser rifle unslung. And as Genma tried to jump over the wall surrounding the Tendo home a phaser blast set on stun hit him in the back, locking up all the muscles below his back. Genma gave a startled yelp as he fell back to the ground, hard.

On the other side of the wall Soun Tendo had just left through the gate when he heard the startled exclamation from Genma and proceded to run to the safest place he could think of. Namely a bar.

Back in the Tendo yard Genma was sweating bullets as he nervously looked from his wife to Seven of Nine, their forms were outlined by the sun behind their backs and if anything it made them look more menacing. The dark expressions each wore made it clear that he wasn't going to get away, and even if he should find a way to escape they would probably track him down. So now there was only one thing to do, his ultimate technique. Groveling.

"Please don't kill me!!!! Ill do anything, anything!" Genma desperately called out. That turned out to be the final straw as both women literally tore into him.

Nodoka would beat Genma with the flat side of her katana while shouting explicatives, most of the hits she inflicted upon Genma were to rather sensitive portions to his anatomy. Then Seven of Nine, when she didn't have to stun Genma to stop him from running away, introduced him to the sharp bits of her high heeled shoes or the heavy handle of her phaser rifle.

--------------------------------------

Harry Kim ran the fifth diagnostic for the past hour and fourty-five minutes, it didn't help ease his tension. What would really ease his tension would be getting the hell out of this universe and into of his own, the mere fact that the ship would have to travel through fluidic space before opening a singularity into the Delta quadrant was the only thing keeping him from hijacking the ship.

He looked into the sensor display for a possible answer to his questions, none were found. His last encounter with species 8472 nearly killed him, and here they were on a rescue mission to find a hybrid infant. Thinking of how easily his body had almost been destroyed by the cells of a member of species 8472 made him feel sick and scared at the same time. The feeling of utter helplesness as alien cells continued to eat away at his flesh briefly flashed through his mind. Then the knowledge that next time there may be no cure. He could still remember hearing everyone speak like he was already dead. He tried to think other less depressing thoughts.

What if this was some sort of trap set by species 8472 to finish off Voyager? In that case they planned very well, there would probably be no easy escape. At least no easy escape since they had to go through fluidic space. It was like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Harry Kims thought turned away from more depressing and frightening ideas as a blip appeared on his sensor readouts. "Commander I've got a singularity forming 500 kilometers from lunar orbit." The singularity disappeared leaving a solitary ship behind that he remembered in his nightmares. "Its a organic craft." He said in worried tones as he contemplated that idea of this whole thing being a trap.

"Open a channel." Chakotay looked at the viewscreen and smiled when the image of Tamat, looking like grounds keeper Boothby, appeared. The smile disappeared from his face when he saw the panicked expression on Boothby's face. "Whats happened?"

"You've got to get the test subject out of here. The BORG will be here any moment!"

--------------------------------------

Under some stretch of deserted land in Kansas is the installation Area 57. Ever since Voyager arrived the entire base has been on full alert.

The commander of this facility silently ground his teeth as he again reread the orders from Majestic-12.

-Do not fire unless more unknown craft take up orbit around this planet.-

"Sir, I've got another unidentified craft taking up orbit with the first craft!" One of he sensor technicians spoke up from his post.

Finally a time to act instead of listening to the paper shufflers, the commander thought to himself.
"FIRE!"

--------------------------------------

The bridge of Voyager shook as some unseen force impacted the ship.

"Report!"

"Were being fired upon by the satellites with those weird power readings. Deflector screens are at 85%."

"Paris get us out of range of those weapons platforms." Came the order from Chakotay as he held on to the armrests of his seat, he would rather have destroyed the satelites but he didnt know what other weapons may be hidden in some of the other satelites. "Tactical, target the nearest weapons platform, lets show them we mean business."

Both Voyager and Tamat's ship swerved away from the satelites and retaliated with their own weapons, silencing 5 of the satelites. Both ships took up orbit around the moon. It was at that time the first BORG cube uncloaked near Earth, taking up a geosynchronous orbit over Japan while its shields absorbed the weak beams of particle energy.

--------------------------------------

Ranma, Nabiki, Kasumi, Capt. Janeway and Tuvok sat on the deck pleasantly sipping tea while ignoring the screams coming from Genma. At first Capt. Janeway and Tuvok had been appalled at what was happening to Genma and were about to help him but after Ranma related to them some stories of the training techniques, like the Neko-ken, that Genma put him through they quickly agreed that Genma deserved what he got.

Capt. Janeway glanced back at the still unconscious figure of Ryouga, she then looked to the hole in the wall he made, it looked to her like someone had used explosives to blow the wall in. "Ranma, how did Ryouga make that hole in the wall?"

"Hmm? Oh he used this technique called the Baksaie Tenketsu, all he has to do is jab his finger into a object and it explodes." Ranma looked thoughtful for a few moments before adding. "Well actually it isn't as easy as it sounds, first your pummeled by a boulder several times until you can see the lines of force emanating from the boulder. Its also the attack Ryouga favors most since it causes massive damage, fortunately it doesn't work on living beings."

"Ranma did Seven of.. I mean your mother tell you why were here?" At this time Capt. Janeway wished she was drinking coffee instead of tea, than at least she could feel alert

"Not really, first she examined my hand then I got all of these memories from her." He smiled as he recalled some of the more pleasant memories.

This wasn't going to be easy at all Janeway thought to herself, she now had to take this boy from the only family he had known, though after hearing what Genma did to Ranma she would probably be doing Ranma a favor. The problem was that she wasn't sure that he would want to go. "Ranma we and you are from a different universe, we came here to take you back before the BORG could find you." She was about to proceed further until she saw Ranma pale and break out sweating.

"There coming here?" He asked in a choked whisper, his eyes seemed to glaze over. As if he were reliving a nightmare.

"Yes, and if what your telling me is true then they may already know how to find you." She fervently hoped that Ranma would choose to come with them, if he didn't then she would have to destroy him. And by what she had seen so far he didn't deserve death.

She waited until Ranma calmed down then she plowed ahead. "Your only chance is to come with us. That way the BORG wont know where to find you, this course of action will also stop the BORG from potentially assimilating the peoples of this planet."

She wrenched her thoughts back as she saw him tremble slightly, then new tears started to form in his eyes. She looked back to the Tendo sisters and saw that they were leaving Ranma with her, Nabiki entered the living room and turned on the TV while Kasumi went to clean the house.

"This just in, a strange craft has been sighted moving away from the Earth. Wait a minute, yes, I am now hearing reports of strange flashes of light hitting the unknown ship."

The rest of the newscasters report is slowly replaced with static. Then a low hoarse whisper starts to issue forth from the speaker of the TV. Gradually it builds in volume until the emotionless voice of hundreds of persons are heard, by then the cold hard voice had managed to capture the attention of everyone who could hear the TV.

"WE_ARE_THE_BORG_RESISTANCE_IS_FUTILE_."

Capt. Janeway tapped her combadge before the sentence was complete. "Emergency transport. NOW!!!" Static and what probably were words greeted her command. She tried again with similar results. She looked at Tuvok and Seven of Nine as they held their weapons at ready.

Sparkling green motes of light appeared as five BORG drones materialized around Ranma, coincidentally getting between Ranma and the away team. Seven of Nine, Tuvok and Capt. Janeway fired their phasers at the drones, knocking two down before they adapted. Ranma just had enough time to look horrified as one of the BORG applied a muscle inhibitor to his neck and then they were gone. Leaving the away team behind.

Capt Janeways combadge emmitted a burst of static as a message got through. "Captain! Theres several BORG craft now in orbit around the planet. Were beaming you up now."

Capt. Janeway put her hand on Seven of Nines shoulder. "Don't worry Seven we'll get him back."

As the away team is enveloped with sparkling motes of white light Seven of Nines features become hard as she softly replied. "Yes I will."
