Over the last couple of weeks, I've noticed an alarming number of
posts to the FFML consisting of this:

set ffml vacation
end

Folks, you're either not paying attention to the FAQ, or you're
getting confused by what it says. So, I'm going to refresh your
memories on how this little thing called flags works.

If you want to unsubscribe from the FFML, or if you want to set
yourself to vacation mode, don't try sending them to ffml@fanfic.com.
The address ffml@fanfic.com is the posting address for the FFML, and
that's the only function it serves. Anything sent to ffml@fanfic.com
will be posted to the entire list. ffml@fanfic.com DOES NOT PROCESS
LIST SERVER COMMANDS.

There are two addresses which process list server commands:

ffml-request@fanfic.com

listar@fanfic.com

If you want off the list, or want to set any flags, such as vacation,
THESE are the correct addresses to send such commands to. It's my
opinion that the confusion is coming from the first address,
ffml-request@fanfic.com. It seems, to me, that a lot of people might
be forgetting to put the '-request' in there.

Which is not acceptable, people. The list has enough spam as it is,
and this is not a difficult thing to remember, especially since you
should have a copy of the most current version of the FAQ saved on
your computer somewhere to refer to. (If you don't, I suggest you
rectify this the next time the FAQ is posted.)

Two addresses process list commands. Neither of them is
ffml@fanfic.com. If you have difficulty remembering one, I suggest
focusing on remembering the other. You should probably also save them
in your address book.

Which brings me to the other point. Some of you, when informed that
you've screwed up, reply 'Sorry, clicked the wrong address in my
address book'. This isn't an excuse either, folks. It doesn't take
much effort to label them clearly and distinctly, like so:

FFML ffml@fanfic.com
List Commands-FFML	ffml-request@fanfic.com

It also doesn't take much effort to look back at the To: line in your
e-mail and make sure the correct address is there before you send it.
There are very few instances where someone having the time to send an
e-mail message can't spare the 1.5 seconds it takes to doublecheck
the sending address. Being in a rush is *never* an excuse for not
making sure you don't have any glaring mistakes before you send an
e-mail message.

Spamming the FFML with server commands is sheer stupidity, people.
DON'T DO IT.
