Right, here goes.
First off, it has come to my attention that some deranged crack-addict
has gotten access to my e-mail and was actually promising to bring out
the next installment of Illuminations by... today. I mean, really,
now.
Anyway, two weeks hence is a little more like it. The crack addict has
been punished. (I've got him a job taste-testing for Akane, Urd and
C-Ko.)
Next up, while on my camping trip I took along the printed out copies
of American Vaction by Pat Olsen (1-9) and American Vacation by Brian
Payne (Prologue-3).
Excellent works, both, and well-worth the read.
Pat Olsen's continuation of his A Different Viewpoint SI is easily as
good as, if not considerably better than, the first arc of the series.
The crossover with Kung Fu is almost too perfect, and Pat's grasp of
his characters is only strengthening over time.
On the Sailor Moon front, the various complications of the Moon Cats
getting Jusenkyo cursed have been... intriguing, to say the least.
Tasty bit of irony in Usagi and Luna getting caught and blamed for what
Minako and Artemis have been up to....
Brian Payne's work is a bit different, but still very enjoyable. I
have especially liked his adherence to the overall mood of the OS--no
one gets seriously hurt, even though the threat sometimes seems VERY
real. Good stuff.
Both works have some minor typos, but not outside the realm of
acceptability. I'm looking forward to future installments of each, and
hope to give more detailed commentary on those installments.
