O.K., here are my 2 cents:
Every fanfic is a self insertation. Yep! Well, almost every fanfic.
Think about it. If someone introduces a new character, that character's
personality can only equal what the author's personality is. At least...
Every character is a piece of yourself. At least, that's how I write.
Everyone's creative method is slightly different.
But what I do is pick a piece of my personality, and skew it. The evil
dominion commander is actually my dark side, but changed for the
story.... It actually works pretty well for non-main characters. For
main characters, I find that this method gives very bland characters.
So, I do something else. But that's off topic!

but just a few weeks ago I got an idea for one. My
question is: in a self-insertion fic, has anyone ever cast themselves
as the bad guy/antagonist, and not as a living power battery/new-and-
most-powerful team member/love interest?

If I EVER do a self insertation, it is as a bad guy that either everyone
hates, or I get myself killed in some tragic accident/suicide/murder...
I have never written a story where I was the good guy. Of course, anime
Fan-Fic writing is new to me, so I don't know if I will change that...
Who doesn't want Ryoko as their sex slave? (I know several women who
have expressed that wish).... Wait, I'm off topic again.

Anyway, in the fic I'm currently writing, I place myself in it as a
shadowy bad guy who gives the main character a glimpse of the "Truth",
and then is shot.... Does that count?

(Its an Escaflowne/X-Files Crossover/Fusion (I never got the hang of the
difference between a crossover and a fusion...))

(not that I'm necessarily EVIL, mind you.)

I'm evil, and loveing it!!
