It was difficult to imagine that she was much older than
he was, her lithe child-body inching its way in front of his in
the duct, but he couldn't get it out of his mind - mostly
because, it would help to keep his mind off, well, what was
right in front of him.
It helped for him to talk his mind, take action when he
could, but utmost silence was definitely called for. Miles and
miles of duct to go.
She was most definitely strange, not just on the outside.
She had this tendency to be moody - at times serious, at times
playful, at times the loneliest soul he had ever seen - and
this horrible tendency to be moody.
His body on autopilot, he drifted off to the first time
they met.

	She came to his office.
He'd been reading up on his research - even turned his
chair from the door, just so that anyone who happened to open
the door would take the hint and not disturb him. So when the
door opened and slammed, he was under standably irate.
"Who?" He whirled the chair and stood up - the door
was open by just a crack. "Darn it," he mouthed and started
to sit down - then he saw her.
She was sprawled on the floor.

	"Uhhh..."
"Don't get up," he said, holding the damp towelette to
her forehead. He scratched his head and tried again, in
Tibetan.
"Uhh..." she moaned again, complying. She closed her
eyes briefly, then opened them to stare at him.
	"Um... t-th-thank you."
So she could speak English. "Are you okay?"
She tried to nod, but held her head. He held her hand
and fixed her head with the other. "Wait... you've got a
bump just here." He stood up. "I've got something for that,
don't move." He went into a small sideroom.
Opening the medicine cabinet, he began locating the
bottle of Bactryn he had around. "So... who are you and what
are you doing here in my office?"
"I've been looking for you... Doctor Jones."

He didn't think that his father was going to dump on
him the largest archeological (hell, largest anthropological)
find in history - probably the best kept secret in the world.
Neither did he expect his father to die on him, but they
weren't as close as either of them wanted to be.
Of course, he didn't believe her - she was as much a
bumpkin as they came, and had no ties with... never mind.
The statue would have been enough, but he was sure that she
could be persuaded to lead him into the Holy Land of Kun-Lun.
She stared through the vent, face illuminated by
some flickering source, probably torchfire. He edged past
her, squeezing just so carefully, and took a look.
	"What the-?!"
He did not notice the half-naked woman who sat before
the altar, but at the figure towering over the altar, an icon
of dread, fanged, cruel and blind.
	Kwai-An Wang.

Of course, something's gonna happen. It is an action
flick, and it's a Harrison Ford flick.

Indiana Jones and the Immortal Demon

	(or Indy and the Beast)

Coming out when you don't think it might.
