First of all, my recorded reactions while reading this lovely bit of
writing by our very own Dark Day for Anime:

As a final note, I only wish to say that after I read this fic, I was
kidnapped and forced to witness an extremist cult ritually beheading a
Spice Girl while she watched reruns of Profiler, said beheading causing
her to go into an epileptic fit which resembled copulation and continued
until she combusted. This ritual triggered a nuclear holocaust, which,
among other things, caused an earthquake in Indonesia and a massive
outbreak of Ebola. As swarms of mice forced subsidence living in
America, the dollar was horribly devalued, making it clear that the cult
was actually a front for an alliance between the IOC and several
corporations who sought revenge on various political jokes (such as Dan
Quayle) for not getting a bigger cut of the action. All of which leads
to the obvious question, "When's the next installment of Waiting for
Minako coming out?"

And now for something completely different.... (No, I mean it!)
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Whew. Lara, you've done it again. This chapter moved Werewolf in
Samurai's Clothing into my Top 5 Disturbing Fics list. There is just so
much here--even though I knew going into it that there was no way you
were going to back out, I still was crushed when Nabiki wound up as
Maxim's concubine in fact as well as name.
And there's something else, some dark train of thought that this kicked
up, and I'm not sure what to do with. It raised a question, in my mind
at least, if what happened to Nabiki because of Maxim was really any
worse than what happened because of Kuno.
There were at least one or two near-rapes in earlier installments of
WiSC. These were "justified" by the fact that the two characters were
trapped by the natural instincts overwhelming them. But is that really
so much better than Maxim wiping her memory and seducing her? Make it
more complex by removing Maxim's sadism--make him a more competent
Ki-Rin type, for instance. Suppose he was actually more gentle and
caring a lover than Kuno (still not the greatest prize in that respect).
Then what happens? Is there really a difference between a car wreck and
a gun shot? I dunno--I suppose the subjective impact is greater, but
I'm struggling with whether it _should_ be that way.
