Subject: [FFML] Status report... after half an eternity... ^_^;;;

We interrupt your regularly scheduled FFML for an important bulletin.

It's been quite a while since I last posted to the list, for which my only
excuse is college life. In any case, I write this to let people know that
I'm still writing, and have been lurking the ML all this time. In fact,
soon I'll churn out C&C for some of the series whose authors I don't
communicate with regularly.

The point of this message, however, is regarding the future of my series
"Song of the Phoenix." A recent surge of inspiration has left me with the
urge to continue up to a fourth and final part, even though I'm still in
the process of writing the third one, Lightbirds. In this light, I come
out with this announcement:

Song of the Phoenix, as it is known, will cease to exist.

I'm *rewriting* the entire thing.

Now, don't look at me like that. I'm not crazy. The fact that I
haven't taken my medication for the last two weeks is of no concern. Some
of you already knew this, as I commented over KawaiiMUCK or e-mail.
Nonetheless, I chose to warn the rest of the FFML at this point in time
for a reason.

Ever since I first wrote "The Four Birds of Fire," the first chapter of
SotP, I've kept reading more and more fanfics, and expanding my sources.
Now, after nearly four years of character debates (mainly with Blade) and
fanfic cliche ranting, and also after having acquired the entirety of the
Ranma 1/2 manga *and* having watched a good 80% of all the anime, I come
to realize that both TFBOF and its sequel, "The Caller's Plight," are
somewhat... off-center regarding characterization, and are chockful of
cliches. Although I know that there are people who like it as it is
(if the number of requests for Lightbirds is any indication,) I feel it
would be a disservice to them, and the series, to leave those errors
there.

I've already begun rewriting TFBOF, which is the part in most need of
fixing up. I will likely change over half the content in TCP, and
Lightbirds will remain mostly as it is. Therefore, if anyone still wants
the original TCP, contact me during the next two months, as I won't start
with it until then. Also, and MOST importantly, if any of those who have
read SotP so far have any ideas for improvement (i.e. characterization,
plot devices, and whatnot,) I'll be very thankful if you let me know now,
because this *will* be the last revision --I also need to write other
fanfics before the ideas for those fade away into my subconscious.

I'll continue to write for Pencils in the meantime, of course, as well as
other fics that will have influence over the SotPverse.

So, to sum it up, here's the status for all my current fanfics:

	TOP PRIORITY:

* Song of the Phoenix (R1/2, F.Fantasy) --Massive revision.

* Those Chosen by the Planet (F.Fantasy VII) --Picked up again.

* Weapons of the New Century (EVA) --Just started.

* Pencils

* Also, I jumped the gun a little when I warned the Pencils group that the
fourth and final part of SotP would be ready by Fall. I'm beginning to
doubt I'll be done revising TCP by then, but I'll try... ^_^;;

Will pick up later, after SotP is done:

* They were but children --My one and only darkfic.

* Broken Shelter --Background project after I'm done with SotP, since it
will be as large as TCP.

* Shards of Peace (MKR) --Will probably rewrite it as well.

* Memories of a lifetime --I *may* pick it up, or give away the idea for
someone else to cover it. It's a crossover between the most known
Takahashi series.

So, that's it. For prereaders and those who know SotP: It's not as bad as
it sounds. I'm merely fixing up some parts that were underplayed. OTOH,
the Dragonballesque third chapter of TCP is probably getting scrapped in
favor of a more interesting and less repetitive one. For those who have
never read SotP... well, this is your chance ^_^ !
