As far as lemons and age are concerned, I think
that appropriateness is linked to content.

The first piece of work I can think of that has
fourteen-year olds having sex is 'The Tragedie
of Romeo and Juliet' by that immortal pervert,
Will Shakespeare. Never mind that the two
were *married* at the time they had nookie,
they were still two kids having nookie.

Another work comes to mind, the oft lambasted
'Lolita' by that Russian pervo, Vladimir
Nabokov. Now that featured some real sick
observations about young girls and their various
body parts (especially how similar they are to
young boys' body parts--slim waists, boyish
hips). Nevermind that he was in love with that
poor doomed creature, even after he found out
that she'd run away and gotten pregnant by some
other sick seventeen-year old.

The point I'm trying to make is that only in
context can we define what is pornography
and what is not. Lemon Sherbert, as funny as
it is, is more pornographic than the Made
of Stone Lemon (plug!) because of the situations
involved lend more torwards titilation than
character development and plot advancement.

This is *not* to say that all stories need sex
in them to advance their plot or develop their
character. All I'm saying is that when I wrote
my lemon story, I did so with intent to furthur
the characters *first* and titilation afterwards.
:)

So, in conclusion, if fanfics writers think
first about *why* they're writing a lemon, then
they can consider for themselves whether or not
the subject matters involved are appropriate.

Just my two cents,

Ah, a sane voice!

To put in my 2 cents, I had to sprint to catch up with the meter maid.

There are several issues at stake here. The one that I'm dissecting is
the idea of FANTASY vs. REALITY. This seems to come up a lot in these
discussions. Fantasy vs. reality is something that most Westerners have
a problem with. For some reason, we can't figure out the difference
between reality and the fantasies that we see. Look at the Ranma fans
for example, how many times have you seen a post asking about "How do
they make money", or "How is that mallet hidden?". Or, has anyone been
to the comic conventions (NOT the anime conventions). Or, how about the
people in Congress that are constantly worried about violence on T.V.
and video games? This is all caused by an inherent inability to
determine what is fantasy and reality. (I wrote a term paper on it for
my Cultural Anthropology class, and got an A+).

Now I understand that part of the writing creative process is to get
inside the world that has been created, and to write as if you were
there. (That's just one method.) O.K., my point is that a Sasami lemon
is fantasy. That's it. There is no meaning that people need to go out
and fuck small children. Sane Americans probably would feel an urge to
destroy this piece of work, because it is too close to their reality.
Sorry! This is fantasy. No-one really gets hurt. The emotional scarring
that occurs because of unconsenting sex are erased with a flick of the
delete key. This by no means says that I approve of the idea of 8 year
olds having sex, at least in this culture's standpoint, its just that
NO-ONE had sex!!!!! NO-ONE!

My next point has to do with America and England's inability to accept
sexuality in children. (This was another paper I wrote, 12 pages long,
A+) Young children are inherently non sexual beings. But, as the age
increases to 12, maybe even 10, they become sexual. This sexuality is
part of our humanity! To deny it is to destroy a part of what makes us
human. Anyway, by age 14, 50% of children have had sex in America. No, I
did not make this up. By age 16, that number has climbed to 68%. And
this only including intercourse as a means of defining sex. Yet, we see
actions brought against youths (When I use the term Youth, I mean age
12-18, 18 being the age of consent in America) who have sex, in order to
protect their "innocence". Ha! I think that people in this country need
a wake up call!

Woah!! Did I just type that? What the hell am I thinking? Well, I kind
of went off topic there... Sorry....
Um, yeah, its fantasy vs reality. This is FANTASY!!

Oh, well, that's what you get when you write something when you are so
sick you can barely stand up, listening to Pink Floyd

Stupid Flu...
