getting VERY annoying! If you don't like the contest, we are not
forcing you enter. I'm trying very hard to be polite about this but,

Correct - you're forcing people not to enter by using a stupid sponsor
who'd rather people chopped to bits than loveed!

people, please lighten up a tiny bit on this. We were just giving
people a chance to maybe win a prize or two.

You're only giving _certain_ people a chance... and denying others.

Do you see that, and how really annoying it is to be shunned like this?

To Kun-chan and those who are feeling a little left out,

You may have seen another post with the title "FFML Fanfiction Contest?"
recently?

If you didn't, here it is again below. I *need* your input on how to make
this a contest that everyone here can partcipate in and that will be fair.
Please send your ideas directly to me at:

askuse@lonet.ca

So far I have been able to answer just about everyone's posts, but as
volume climbs I may have trouble doing so. BUT be assured that I am taking
everyone's ideas and cutting and pasting them into a Suggestion Box file.
Later this week I will be cleaning the "box" up and posting the results to
the FFML.

To Carly and those organizing the Animecon. com contest,

I do hope that the contest that is the focus of this original thread does
do well. It is not my intention to undermine it, as I see the FFML contest
taking place later on this year.

[FFML Fanfic Contest?
-----------------------------
This Fanfic Mailing List has been in operation for a few years now, and
it's high time the FFML had it's own annual Fanfic Contest. Free of
corporate legalities, open to all types of fanfics, and yet organized
enough that it is fair and honourable.

I'd like then to send out a request to *all* authors and readers on this
list, to voice their opinions about how this contest should be run. I would
also like to ask for some kind person(s) who have the resources, energy and
time to "host" this contest. As I see it now, a few people would be needed
to count the votes who don't have limit-restricted email accounts. No
reading of all the fanfics submitted would be neccessary: we just fill in a
voting form. This should be a contest by the FFML for the FFML. Granted,
the potential for this to become a popularity contest is high, but that's
why I am asking for input on how this could be run. I think the FFML should
have it's own annual competition, but for it to be worthy of the FFML, it
has to be done right, or not at all.

Finally, PLEASE DO NOT send your suggestions or ideas to the FFML. As much
as *I* think this is an issue to be debated on the FFML itself, I have the
feeling Tybalt would not approve, so please send your suggestions to me at:

askuse@lonet.ca

If you think of it before sending, please put [Contest] in the Subject
header to make life a little easier. Filters can be very handy :)

I will post the results of this request some time next week, or whenever I
am able to read all the suggestions. *You* will decide whether we have a
contest or not, not me, so feel free to voice your opinion on why or why
not this contest should be created, but please try to be concise. My ISP
thanks you :)

Yeah, I'm gonna get bombed, but I think if this is going to be done, it
should be done with some thought and input from everyone here. Besides, I'm
on vacation :)
