Throwing someone to an alligator and having them show up unharmed later is
meant to be serious?  It's a sight gag, just like the hammers; the humor comes
from the massive overkill in ending a fight this way.

The other characters in the series treat Kodachi like a self-centered annoyance,
but _not_ like a killer.  You can always decide to ignore the "no damage"
rules of the Ranmaverse and make Kodachi into a killer, but that's basically
writing a Bitter End version of Kodachi.  (Worse, actually; Bitter End didn't
completely throw that rule out, just modify it a little bit into "nobody
takes any permanent damage...  yet.")
