Well, if he is off, and I doubt it, it's not Chris's fault.  

According to Spider Robinson, author of the Callahan's Place stories
that Tom Flannery's taken from, Tom Flannery did indeed die in 1972,
though AIDS wasn't given as the cause until perhaps as late as 1976
(which would have been the last date that "'A Voice is Heard in
Ramah...'"  could have been written.  (I'm afraid I couldn't find a
reference more definite than that.)  Later in the series, another
character describes Tom as the "first friend I ever had that died of
AIDS."  I HIV wasn't known at that point, of course... but presumably
Tom would have done his reading after they unthawed him.

(Go and read the Callahan's Place stories, everybody!  The first three books of
stories have been recently collected as "The Callahan Chronicals", $10
US in paperback and well worth it.)
