Quoting from the first Mousse story (Viz translation):


Mousse: (To Ranma) These are my terms! If I should WIN --

Ye olde ghoul: You can't have Shampoo.

Mousse: ..... (points to Akane) then I will take YOUR WOMAN!


So what DOES Mousse get if he defeats Ranma? Let's quote from the second
Mousse story:


Shampoo: *Feh,* if for some reason Mousse win... Shampoo date with
Mousse.

[Mousse lands his bicycle on top of Ranma, knocking his face into a bowl
of ramen]

Mousse: I heard that, Shampoo! (pedalling off) I shall defeat you in
front of Shampoo, Ranma! Just you wait!


So, the point is, defeating Ranma would get Mousse a mercy date with
Shampoo -- nothing more. And that's not because of any Amazon law --
only because she agreed to it. Of course, for him a mercy date is more
than enough reason to give his all against Ranma and then some.

[BTW, this same storyline contains an interesting scene where Ranma is
about to get married. Those people who think Akane couldn't possibly be
saintly enough to marry Ranma if she thinks he might be permanantly
stuck in girl form might want to re-read this story. ^_^]
