Just out of curiosity, does anyone *anywhere* in the Evangelion canon come
out and say just what the Human Instrumentality Project (a.k.a. Human
Complementation Project, Human Completion Project) really *is*? What do we
(the audience) really know about what it does or what it involves?

I *do* have a theory of my own, but I'm curious as to what other people
can tel me ... because one of the ramifications of my (present) theory is
that the two "endings" to the Evangelion canon (TV episodes 25 and 26, and
the End of Evangelion movie) are *not* mutually exclusive - in fact, one
of them may depend on the other.
(Now why am suddenly I reminded of Douglas Adams' line that if
anyone ever figures out what the universe is for and why we are here, the
Universe will suddenly disappear and be instantly replaced by something
even more incomprehensible?)

Anyway, let me know what you think - and feel free to ask what my theory
is. I may post it on the FFML after I get some responses to my query.
