would be.  Why is anybody objecting to these?

Some of the authors consider pop-ups to be offensive because
it looks more like a personal commentary by the reviewer than
a bunch of heckling by anime chars acting within their proper
character range.

OK, point taken, and apparently pop-ups are based on some program ("VH-1"?)
that I've never heard of.  Sorry.  But I repeat: as an annotation (as
opposed to heckling) this was pretty interesting reading.
