9. Was Ranma originally a boy in this story?

Yes, but her real sex is now female thanks to Genma. <<

And "she" never knew she was a boy to begin with? And I though she was a
girl to begin with all along.
Nice try but it doesn't work that way. There is documented evidence that
altering a child's sex and expecting them to grow up accepting their new
sex is a fuitle exercise. The body "knows" what sex its supposed to be
and
will push the mind in that direction.
The only concivable way I can see this happening is via magic. Enough of
it
to alter Ranma at the biochemical level.
Which is way you did it isn't it?

Just a small point I'd like to make about this. This is "Hitomi's" work
and
therefore, subject to "her" whims of how the story should go, not how it
was
laid out in previous fics or those done by The Almighty Goddess
Takahashi-sama
herself ". It doesn't have to conform to the "well documented" facts on the
matter because this is just a story and as much as I'd love it to be, the
Ranma
1/2 universe does not follow the same physical guidelines and restrictures
of
physics and biochemistry that ours does! Otherwise we should be able to see
a
lot of martial artists being able to wield KI blasts and "Hurricane Kicks"
and
"Dragon Punches" and the like, shouldn't we? 0_o Nuff said.

I agree it is Hitomi's work. Who knows how Ranma become a girl. She is a
girl. Live with it.

To compare, Ranma's "transformation" to a sex change operation is
impossible. It seems unlikely that Ranma would ever consede to such an
operation. Who knows, Ranma's elevation to a goddess might have even
locked him into a female body. It is hard to say. Let's just let this
issue drop before the list administrator gets mad at us.

I think the only potential issue over gender in The Youngest Goddess relates
to the question upon whether sex is determined by the body or soul. If it
is determined by the soul, Ranma is still a boy trapped in a woman's body.
If it is determined by the body, then Ranma is 100% female. This might be
an interesting question to address...

Also an interesting question. Is there destiny and are Akane and Ranma
destined to marry. If they are destined to marry, how will destiny fulfill
itself.

The series shows some interesting promise and hopefully the author will find
some enteresting ways to confront these issues. I think the reintroduction
of Akane as the beginning of events which will make the story a fun read. I
look forward to the next volume.

P.S. I would like to apologize for my last post. It was rushed and not
done thoroughly(late to a class). I hope this post clarifies my last post
to a degree. That was the major reason I wrote it. I did not write it to
"clutter" the list. I hope everyone will consider this a dead thread as is
and change it into a proper C&C thread(if it is to be continued at all).
