<sigh> and I told myself I wasn't going to get involved in this one.
Ah well...

Take my word for it, no matter what, solid granite is stronger than a
person. Always.

If that were true, Ryouga wouldn't be able to poke holes in it.

You're assuming that Ryoga can't poke holes in Ranma. Why?

It's your reasoning he's arguing against. Here's the logic of his arguement,
as I see it.

You state that Since Ryoga can poke holes in granite (although, I might
note that we are unsure as to the compostition of the boulders used in the
Bakusai Tenketsu training Ryoga underwent. It could potentially be a softer
rock. For the purposes of this argument though, we will disregard this
possibility as it seems unnecessary), and that granite is stronger than a
person. Now (and here's the kicker): if granite is stronger than a person,
how can Ryoga (who is ostensibly a person, regardless of what one's opinion
of Ryoga might be) poke holes in granite? Obviously it should be his finger
that gets damaged, and not the granite.
Thus, people (in Ranma 1/2 at least) must be stronger than granite.
(It is interesting to note that human bone is less likely to break than
granite, having greater flexibility. One of the reasons why when someone
breaks boards, cinder blocks, et cetera, with their hands, the hand does not
break).
So, while one may say that Ryoga can poke holes in rock, it does not
prove that he can in fact poke holes in Ranma....

P.S. Even though I'm (now) guilty in perpetuating this thread, would it be
too much for me to ask if we could drop it, or take it to private email? I
really don't see the relevance it has to fanfics, and seems to be going
nowhere, in addition to just sort of taking over the list.
As I said though, now that I've participated, I'm just as guilty in
perpetuating the thread. <sigh> and usually I don't do stuff like this,
instead trusting in Tybalt of White Wolf to handle such matters. It was
the reasoning that bothered me though, as warped as it may sound (coming
from me as it does), you have to at least argue in a logical, rational
fashion, and not ignore statements/previous points you have made when they
become inconvenient, and then use them again later on....
