Well, I finally finished them... so here they are. The
results. A little bit of self-indulgent analysis, first; you can skip
to the stars below if you're not interested.
I got 42 votes, which isn't as high a number as I'd hoped for,
but is better than I feared. (Besides, according to Douglas Adams, it
has cosmic significance. ^_^) Of these, all but 2 included feedback
on which series' fanfics they read.
I'd left the authors' names off the original ballot in order
to try to encourage votes based on the writing rather than name
recognition. In hindsight, I'm not sure just how necessary that was.
Oh, well. Live and learn.
Crossovers, for the most part, fall somewhere between their
more popular and less popular series in terms of readership. That's
about what I'd expected. Whether people who read the crossover, but
not the less popular series, will later go back and explore that
series' other fanfics, I couldn't guess. I hope so.
I hope to have a nice-looking webpage version up by Saturday
evening; that page will include a percentage of "best fanfic" votes,
as well as a third list taking into consideration the number of votes
for a fanfic relative to the number of readers for that fic's series.
In closing, thanks to all of you who voted, and especially to
Sarah, who kept track of the votes. ^_^
